473 <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION OF Chairman Bonds, seconded by Commissioner Nash and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the following agreement. <br /> <br />NORTH CAROLINA <br /> <br />CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> <br />SECURITY SERVICES AGREEMENT <br /> <br /> THIS AGREEMENT, dated January 5, 1981, by and between CABARRUS COUNTY <br />(the "County") and CABARRUS MEMORIAL HOSPITAL (the "Hospital"); <br /> <br />W I T N E S S E T H: that-- <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the parties have agreed that a full time security services <br />program is in the best interest of the Hospital, its patients and the general <br />public; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the premises and the mutual covenants <br />contained herein, the parties hereto agree as follows: <br /> 1. Establishment of Security Unit. The County, through the office of the <br />Sheriff of Cabarrus County, shall establish a security unit at the Hospital. <br />Initially, such unit shall consist of a lieutenant and four senior patrolmen. <br />2. Duties of Security Unit. The security unit shall provide full time <br />(twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week) security coverage at the Hospital. <br />A patrolmen shall be on duty at the Hospital at all times. Patrolmen will <br />follow assigned rounds, provide security coverage and routine patrols; advise <br />Hospital personnel on security procedures; perform escort services for Hospital <br />personnel; investigate complaints and assist in the maintenance of order at the <br />Hospital. The unit shall consult with the Hospital Director regularly; assist <br />Hospital personnel in development 6f fire, security and safety programs; review <br />and initiate security training programs at the Hospital; and at all times <br />maintain a high visibility level. <br /> 3. Reporting Procedures. The security unit shall remain employees of <br /> Cabarrus County and members of the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Department. The <br /> unit, through its lieutenant, shall be responsible and report to a designated <br /> member of Hospital's administrative staff. The unit shall abide by applicable <br /> Hospital policies and procedures. <br /> 4. Compensation. As payment for such services, the Hospital shall pay to <br /> the County monthly a sum equivalent to the salary and benefits cost of three <br /> senior patrolmen and a Sheriff's Department lieutenant. <br /> 5. Amendment. This agreement may be amended from time to time by the <br /> parties to provide additional coverage or flexibility in the administration of <br /> the security services program at the Hospital. The parties shall consult with <br /> the Sheriff of Cabarrus County in the establishment or implementation of any <br /> changes to this agreement. <br /> 6. Termination.
