59 <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the Board declared the opera seats from the Old <br />County Courthouse as surplus property and authorized the County Manager <br />to work with Historic Cabarrus to dispose of the seats by sale or otherwise. <br /> The Board reviewed the amendments to the Solid Waste Ordinance as <br />recommended by the Health Director and franchise haulers. These amendments <br />included no collection of garbage on days that snow is on the ground, only <br />road side garbage pickup when snow remains on the ground, no pickup of garbage <br />secured in out buildings, and not allowing homeowners to deduct from garbage <br />fees for missed garbage pickup unless he hauls his own garbage and the deduction <br />is authorized by the franchise hauler. During discussion of this matter, <br />the Board reviewed a number of complaints and problems regarding garbage <br />collection by Mr. Ray Helms, franchise hauler. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Bonds, seconded by Commissioner Nash and <br />unanimously carried, the Board moved to address a letter to Mr. Ray Helms, <br />franchise hauler, and ask him to give better service as the Board has had <br />a number of complaints regarding him. <br /> Chairman Bonds requested that in addition to a letter from the Board <br />of Commissioners that the Health Department. send a letter to Mr. Helms <br />regarding poor garbage collection service. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Nash and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following amendments to the <br />Solid Wast Ordinance. <br /> <br />Ae <br /> <br />No collection of garbage by franchise haulers is required <br />to be made on days that snow is on the roads. <br />Only road side garbage pickup is required when snow remains on <br />the ground. <br />Garbage secured in out buildings need not be picked up. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Nash, seconded by Commissioner Cook and <br />unanimously carried, the Board endorsed the following resolution and <br />directed that the resolution be transmitted under the signature of the <br />Chairman of the Board of Commissioners to members of the House of Repre- <br />sentatives and Senate with a request that the resolution be introduced <br />in the House of Representatives and Senate. <br /> <br />Resolved by the Committee on Public Works of the United States <br />Senate (House of Representatives) that the Board of Engineers for <br />Rivers and Harbors be, and is hereby, requested to review the <br />reports on the Yadkin-Pee Dee River and tributaries, transmitted <br />to Congress December 28, 1936, and other reports, with a view <br />to determining what measures are necessary and justified at this <br />time to provide flood control, water supply, hydroelectric power, <br />and allied purposes in North Carolina, with particular reference <br />to multipurpose reservoirs on Rocky River. <br /> <br /> Bids received for tractor and equipment for the Cabarrus County <br />Parks and Recreation Department were as follows. <br /> <br />VENDOR BID BOND TOTAL BID <br /> <br />Charlotte Ford Tractor <br />Troxler Equipment Company <br />Rimtrax Corporation <br />Porter Brothers <br /> <br />X $14,418.92 <br />X $15,119.00 <br />X $15,238.64 <br />X $22,483.27 <br /> <br /> Mr. W. K. Cowan, Director of the Parks and Recreation Department, <br />reviewed the bids which were received and the exceptions to the specifications. <br />According to Mr. Cowan, Rimtrax and Porter Brothers were the only vendors <br />which adequately met the specifications for industrial equipment. Mr. Cowan <br />recommended that the bid be awarded to Rimtrax Corporation. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Bonds, seconded by Commissioner Nash and <br />unanimously carried, the Board accepted the recommendation of the Parks and <br />Recreation Director and awarded the bid to Rimtrax Corporation in the <br />amount of $15,238.64 for the purchase of a John Deere tractor and equipment. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner Lentz and <br />unanimously carried, the Board agreed to enter into the following contract <br />with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. <br /> <br /> <br />
