She outlined
the purpose of Senior Centers, stating that a Senior Center is a facility
where activities and services are provided for older adults in the
community. As described by Mrs. Plyler, the Senior Center would serve as
an outlet for older adults and would offer a variety of services and
activities in such areas as education, creative arts, recreation, health
support, counseling, and outreach. Mrs. Plyler also presented a slide
presentation of the Ellen Fitzgerald Senior Center in Monroe.
Mr. Chuck Wilson, President of the Cabarrus County Council on Aging,
stated that the senior citizens of Cabarrus County are willing to do their
part to obtain a Senior Center in the County.
UPON MOTION of Commissioner Nash, seconded by Commissioner Lentz and
unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following resolution establishing
a Cabarrus County Senior Citizens Advisory Council.

RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A
CABARRUS COUNTY SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY COUNCIL

The Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners established a Senior Citizens
Advisory Council on November 11, 1981.
