273 <br /> <br />ADDITION TO ABOVE PROGRAM: <br />When unable to acquire necessary right of way for <br />unpaved road improvements - will apply available funds <br />programmed for that improvement towards next priorities. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Milloway <br />and unanimously carried, the Board recognized Mr. Micheal Stafford as the <br />outstanding volunteer Emergency Medical Technician of the Year for Cabarrus <br />County for 1983 selected by the Centralina Council of Governments and <br />the Region F Emergency Services Advisory Council and directed Mr. Charles <br />McGinnis, County Manager, to write a letter of congratulations to Mr. Stafford. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Milloway <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following resolution <br />proclaiming the week of April 25 - April 30, 1983, as Cabarrus County <br />Emergency Medical Services Week. <br /> <br />EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Emergency Medical Services personnel provide essential <br />lifesaving medical care to the citizens of Cabarrus County; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, several, hundred emergency medical technicians, emergency <br />department physicians and nurses are involved in providing emergency <br />care 'around the clock; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a large number of these individuals unselfishly volunteer <br />their time to provide this valuable service; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, recognition is due these individuals who serve on behalf <br />of all Cabarrus County residents; now <br /> <br /> THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners proclaims the week of April 25 - April 30, 1983, CABARRUS <br /> COUNTY EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK and commends this observance to <br /> our citizens. <br /> <br />This the 18th day of April, 1983. <br /> <br /> /s/ J. Harold Nash Chairman <br /> <br /> Chairman Nash stated that this was the day and hour scheduled for <br />a public hearing regarding the closing of two portions of a 60-foot road <br />in Township 11 as petitioned by DMS May Company and asked if anyone were <br />present who wished to speak for or against the closing of this road. <br />Mr. A. Grant Whitney, Jr., attorney representing DMS May Company, briefly <br />reviewed the road abandonment request. No one spoke in opposition to the <br />closing of the two portions of the road. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Milloway <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following resolution. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION CLOSING TWO PORTIONS <br />OF A SIXTY (60) FOOT ROAD SHOWN <br />ON PLAT RECORDED IN PLAT BOOK 15, <br />PAGE 41, CABARRUS COUNTY PUBLIC <br />REGISTRY, OFF TOM QUERY ROAD <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a Petition has been filed and received in accordance with <br />the provisions of Chapter 153A, Section 241, of the General Statutes of <br />North Carolina, requesting the closing Qf two certain portions of the <br />sixty (60) foot road shown on plat recorded in Plat Book 15, Page 41, <br />Cabarrus County Public Registry; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners has caused to be published a <br />Notice of Public Hearing, all in accordance with said Statute; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the public, hearing was held on the 18th day of April, 1983; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, DMS MAY COMPANY owns the land adjoining the two portions <br />of the road; <br /> <br /> <br />
