426 <br /> <br /> Mr. Philip H. Smith, Sr., Secretary for the Rowan Technical College <br />Cabarrus Advisory Committee, briefly reviewed the history of the educational <br />services of Rowan Technical College in Cabarrus County and presented a <br />booklet of information detailing these programs. He stated the advisory <br />committee would appear before the Board at a later date to make a formal <br />request for $35,000.00 in additional funds for the operation and maintenance <br />of the Corban, Carver, and Kannapolis Center facilities of Rowan Technical <br />College for 1983-84. <br /> Mr. James Lawler, Chairman of the Stanly Technical College/Cabarrus <br />County Advisory Committee, reviewed the educational programs offered by <br />Stanly Technical College in Cabarrus County and outlined the limitations <br />placed on Stanly Technical College in 1982 by Mr. Larry J. Blake, former <br />President of the Department of Community Colleges. He proposed that the <br />Board of Commissioners assist in promoting a consortium of both colleges <br />to provide educational services in Cabarrus County. Mr. Lane Brown, member <br />of the Board of Trustees of Stanly Technical College, also addressed the <br />Board regarding the role of the college in Cabarrus County. <br /> Chairman Nash read a mailgram received that date from Mr. Robert W. <br />Scott, State President of the North Carolina Department of Community <br />Colleges, requesting that the Board of Commissioners postpone action <br />concerning Rowan and ~Stanly Technical Colleges until the matter of service <br />area for the two schools could be reviewed by the State Board of Community <br />Colleges. President Scott stated in the mailgram that until that time the <br />1982 agreement between Stanly Technical College and Rowan Technical College <br />would remain valid and in effect. The Board of Commissioners accepted the <br />presentation by Stanly Technical College as information only and agreed that <br />no action would be taken by the Board until a decision is received from the <br />State in the matter. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Barnhardt <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the following budget amendment. <br /> <br />TRANSPORTATION PLANNING <br />ACCOUNT #32-60 <br /> <br /> Present <br />Line Item Approved Revised <br />Acct. No. Description Budget Increase Decrease Budget <br /> <br /> Expenses <br />9-32-60-155 Consultants $12,600.00 $5,400.00 <br /> <br />$18,000.00 <br /> <br /> Revenue <br />6-32-34-102 Transportation $20,000.00 $5,400.00 - $25,400.00 <br /> Development Planning <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Lentz <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the addition of High Ridge Lane <br />and Bent Oak Trail to the state road system. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Lentz <br />and unanimously carried, the Board set a public hearing for 10:00 A.M. on <br />Monday, December 5, 1983, for the following road name changes. <br /> <br />Unnamed Road to Gail Lane <br />Unnamed Road to Family Drive <br />Brief Road to Cabarrus Station Road <br />River Road to Garmon Mill Road <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Lentz. <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Resolution. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners.of Cabarrus County received a <br />letter indicating that a resolution was approved by the Town of Mount <br />Pleasant requesting that the revised Cabarrus County Animal Control <br />Ordinance be enforced within the town limits of Mount Pleasant. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Animal <br />Control Ordinance which was effective September 1, 1983, be and the <br />same shall apply within the Corporate Limits of the Town of Mount <br />Pleasant and the Cabarrus County Dog Warden and his assistants are <br />hereby instructed to enforce said Ordinance within the Corporate Limits <br />of the Town of Mount Pleasant. <br /> <br /> <br />
