209 <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Upright <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Proclamation. <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the State of North Carolina is celebrating Public Health <br /> Week in North Carolina during the month of April; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Public Health Department in Cabarrus County serves <br /> thousands of our citizens each year; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, public health assures a cleaner, safer, more wholesome <br /> environment in which to live; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, healthful living is the major prevention of the burdens of <br /> disease and chronic illness; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, during the week of April 21-27, Cabarrus County will be <br /> commemorating the 30th Anniversary of the distribution of <br /> polio vaccine to our residents by Mr. Charles A. Cannon <br /> (1892-1971), <br /> <br />THEREFORE, I proclaim April 21-27, 1985, as Public Health Week in <br /> Cabarrus County. <br /> <br />/s/ James W. Lentz <br /> <br />James W. Lentz, Chairman <br />Cabarrus County Commissioners <br /> <br /> Chairman Lentz stated that this was the day and hour for a public <br />hearing for the naming of an unnamed road to Cedar Ridge Lane and asked <br />if anyone were present who wished to speak for or against this road name <br />change. There was no one present to speak regarding the road name change. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Barnhardt <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the naming of an unnamed road <br />located off Simplicity Road as Cedar Ridge Lane. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the Board authorized Chairman Lentz to proclaim the <br />month of May 1985 as 600 Festival Associatio% Inc. Month in Cabarrus County <br />and sign the following Proclamation. <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the 600 Festival Association, Inc. is organizing to <br />promote the common good and general welfare of the people of Cabarrus <br />County, North Carolina, by planning, promoting, sponsoring, supporting, <br />and implementing cultural, recreational, and civic activities annually <br />during the month of May in connection with the holding each Memorial <br />Day Sunday of the National Association of Stock Car Grand National <br />Event known as the World 600; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in carrying on the activities described above, to provide <br />recreation to the community and publicity to attract people to the <br />community; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, to carry out the foregoing purpose in concert and <br />cooperation with other agencies or organizations when deemed appropriate <br />to do so; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, to engage in such other activities as are incidental or <br />related to the foregoing purposes. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, I, James W. Lentz, Chairman of the Cabarrus County <br />Board of Commissioners, do hereby proclaim the month of May 1985 as <br /> <br />600 FESTIVAL ASSOCIATION, INC. MONTH <br /> <br /> <br />
