Pilkington, Cabarrus County Health Director, recommended <br />that the request by the City of Concord be approved. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Upright <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved including the City of Concord <br />under the County's Animal Control Ordinance pertaining to cats. <br /> The Board received the resignation of Ronald M. Page, P.E., from <br />the Cabarrus County Board of Equalization and Review. Mr. Page had been <br />appointed to the Cabarrus County Planning Board on August 5, 1985. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Payne <br />and unanimously carried, the Board accepted the resignation of Ronald M. <br />Page, P.E., from the Board of Equalization and Review and deferred action <br />on appointment to fill this position until the next Board meeting. <br /> Commissioner Barnhardt nominated Mr. Robert D. Ewan for appointment <br />to the Cabarrus County Planning Board to fill the position previously held <br />by Mr. Joe C~ Ridenhour, who had declined consideration for reappointment <br />to this position. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Hamby and <br />unanimously carried, nominations for appointment to the Planning Board were <br />closed. <br /> The Board appointed Mr. Robert D. Ewan to the Planning Board for a <br />three-year term ending August 31, 1988. <br /> Commissioner Hamby nominated Mr. Larry Loving for reappointment to the <br />Cabarrus County Planning Board. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Barnhardt, seconded by Commissioner Payne <br />and unanimously carried, nominations were closed. <br /> The Board reappointed Mr. Larry Loving to the Planning Board for a <br />three-year term ending August 31, 1988. <br /> Reverend Joel D. Cherry, Chairman of the Cabarrus County Senior <br />Citizens Advisory Council, presented a plaque in appreciation to the <br />Bdard of Commissioners on behalf of the Steering Committee of Cabarrus <br />Senior Games for the Board's support of the Senior Games. <br />Commissioner Upright asked that in the future the senior citizens be <br />better informed of the County's financial support of the'Cabarrus Senior Games. <br /> At 7:30 P.M., Chairman Lentz stated that this was the day and hour <br />scheduled for a public hearing to consider the naming of two unnamed roads <br />to Fish Camp Road and Cee Jay Drive and asked if anyone were present who <br />wished to speak for or against these road name changes. No one spoke <br />regarding the naming of these two roads. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Hamby and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the naming of an unnamed road <br />beginning at Alexander Road as Fish Camp Road and the naming of an unnamed <br />road beginning at Shiloh Church Road as Cee Jay Drive. <br /> The Board again considered the ~renaming of Bradford Road, SR 1604, <br />to Old Bradford Road as requested on July 8, 1985, by the Planning staff <br />and the Communications Division of the 'Sheriff's Department to eliminate the <br />deceptive similarity that exists between Bradford Road and Brafford Drive. <br />At the conclusion of the public 'hearing on July 8, the Board had recommended <br />that the property owners come up with a new name that would be pleasing to <br />them and present it for a public hearing and consideration by the Board on <br />this date. However, it was noted that a petition had been received from <br />the property owners asking that the name of Bradford Road be unchanged. <br />Chairman Lentz asked if anyone were present who wished to speak regarding <br />Bradford Road. <br /> Mr. Ralph Bradford, property owner, again stated that the residents of <br />Bradford Road did not want the road name changed. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Barnhardt <br />with Commissioners Payne, Barnhardt, and Upright and Chairman Lentz voting <br />for and Commissioner Hamby voting against, the Board moved that the names <br />of Bradford Road and Brafford Drive be left as they are. <br /> The Board again discussed the schedule for zoning public hearings and <br />the need to hold these hearings on a monthly basis. During the discussion, <br />Chairman Lentz stated that in the future the Commissioners' Meeting Room <br />would be used for the public hearings. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Upright, seconded by Commissioner <br />Payne and unanimously carried, the Board agreed to meet at 7:00 P.M. on <br /> the first Thursday of each month to consider zoning matters. <br /> The presentation relating to Animal Law by Mrs. Betsy Carpenter was <br /> deleted from the agenda. <br /> <br /> <br />
