75 <br /> <br /> The Board received the Petition Certification from Mr. Kenneth K. Kiser, <br />Chairman of the Cabarrus County Board of Elections, stating that 53.8 percent <br />of the names on the Gold Hill Volunteer Fire District petitions received by <br />the Board of Commissioners on March 23, 1987, were Resident Freeholders of the <br />district. The Board of Elections requested that the Board consider June 9, <br />1987, as the date for the Gold Hill Volunteer Fire District Election. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Melvin, seconded by Commissioner Hamby and <br />unanimously carried, the Board by resolution called a special election on <br />June 9, 1987, in the Gold Hill Fire Volunteer Fire District pursuant to the <br />North Carolina General Statutes, Chapter 69, Article 3A, for the purpose of <br />submitting to the qualified voters therein the question of levying and <br />collecting a special tax on all taxable property in said district, of an <br />amount not exceeding fifteen cents (15¢) on the one hundred dollars ($100) <br />valuation of property, for the purpose of providing fire protection in said <br />district. The boundaries of the Gold Hill Volunteer Fire District are as <br />follows. <br /> <br />GOLD HILL FIRE DISTRICT <br />ROWAN ~ CABARRUS COUNTIES <br />Proposed 3-86 <br /> <br /> Beginning at a point (1) on St. Peters Church Rd.(2370) 0.4 mile south of <br />its intersection with Hill Rd. (2366) and proceding southeasterly to a point <br />(2) at the west west end of a new grade road thence along said road approxi- <br />mately 0.3 mile to a point (3) at its intersection with Liberty Rd. (2140) 2.7 <br />miles from West Liberty Fire Department and proceding east to a point (4) at <br />the intersection of Barber Rd. (2364) with Morgan Rd. (2142) thence north- <br />easterly to a point (5) on High Rock Rd. (2143) at Flat Creek, being <br />approximately 1 mile southwest of High Rock Rd. (2143) and Stokes Ferry Rd. <br />(1004); thence in a southerly direction to a point (6) on Old Beatty Ford Rd. <br />(2356) at the point of Riles Creek Crossing said road; thence in a south- <br />westerly direction to a point (7) on U.S. Highway 52 at the Cabarrus-Rowan <br />County line; thence in a southwesterly direction to a point (8) on Short Cut <br />Rd. (2455) 0.4 mile northwest of its intersection with Mattons Grove Church <br />Rd. (2456); thence southerly to a point (9) on Mattons Grove Church Rd. (2456) <br />0.2 mile east of its intersection with Short Cut Rd. (2455); thence south- <br />westerly to a point (10) at the intersection of Short Cut Rd. (2455) and Gold <br />Hill Rd. East (2450); thence westerly to a point (11) on Shelly Rd. (2452) 0.5 <br />mile north of its intersection with Culp Rd. (2452); thence westerly to a <br />point (12) at the intersection of St. Stevens Church Rd. (2444) and Kluttz Rd. <br />(2435); thence southwesterly along St. Stevens Church Rd. (2444) to a point <br />(13) to its intersection with Sansberry Rd. (2416), excluding property 500 <br />feet west of St. Stevens Church Rd. (2444) between this and the preceeding <br />point; thence to a point (14) on Little Buffalo Creek Rd. (2442) at the bridge <br />over Little Buffalo Creek; thence northeasterly to a point (15) at the inter- <br />section of Mt. Olive Rd. (2446) and Cline Rd. (2447); thence in a northerly <br />direction along Mt. Olive Rd. (2446) to a point (16) on Mt. Olive Rd. (2446) <br />0.2 mile north of its intersection with Kluttz Rd. (2435); thence north- <br />westerly and crossing the Rowan-Cabarrus County line to a point (17) on Oliver <br />Rd. (2357) 0.6 mile west of its intersection with Emanuel Church Rd.(2338); <br />thence in a northeasterly direction to a point (18) at the intersection of <br />Emanuel Church Rd. (2338) and Old Beatty Ford Rd. (1221); thence in a north- <br />easterly to a point (19) at the intersection of Eller Rd. (2346) and Gin Rd. <br />(2347); thence along Gin Rd. (2347) in a northerly direction to a point (20) <br />at the intersection of Gin Rd. (2347) and George Brown Rd. (2348) thence in a <br />northeasterly direction to a point (21) where Zion Church Rd. ( ) intersects <br />with U.S. Highway 52; thence in a northerly direction along a line 500 feet <br />west of St. Peter's Church Rd. (2370) to a point (22) which is 500 feet west <br />of point (1) the beginning; thence east 500 feet to point (1) the beginning, <br />including all lands within the bounds of this district. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Melvin and <br />unanimously carried, the Board by resolution approved the addition of <br />Moonstone Drive and Rockcrest Court to the State road system for maintenance. <br /> The Board requested that in the future a county map showing street names <br />be used to identify the location of any roads under consideration by the Board <br />rather than the State Highway map which shows only State Road numbers. <br /> The Board received the letter from Mr. Dean Christy, Chairman of the <br />Vendors Committee of the Share Cabarrus Festival sponsored by the <br />Concord-Cabarrus County Chamber of Commerce and Merchants Association, Inc., <br /> <br /> <br />
