<br /> Mr. William F. Pilkington, Health Director, reported that the Board of
<br />Health voted on May 26, 1988, to approve the location of an Automatic Teller
<br />Machine for the State Employees Credit Union at the Cabarrus County Health
<br />Department. No recommendation was made on a rental charge for utilization of
<br />county property.
<br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Melvin and
<br />unanimously carried, the Board tabled consideration of the location of an
<br />Automatic Teller Machine at the Health Department until the next meeting in
<br />order to have information regarding a recommended fee.
<br /> Mr. W. E. Cochran, Jr., Consulting Engineer, presented the following bids
<br />received on June 2, 1988, for the installation of a six inch water line along
<br />Miami Church Road from U.S. 601, South to the Country Home Road.

<br /> Mr. Cochran recommended that the low bidder, RDR, Inc., be awarded the
<br />contract Contingent upon both State approval of the project and approval of
<br />the right o~..way. These approvals are expected this week. Mr. Cochran
<br />advised the Board that the County has commitments totaling $62,500.00 from 11
<br />of the 18 property owners and that the remaining property owners would be
<br />charged a proportionate share of the cost when they decide to tap on to the
<br />line. A notice is to be mailed to those property owners who have committed
<br />funds asking that these funds be submitted to the County immediately.
<br /> During review of the Miami Church Road project, the Board discussed the
<br />fact that this project is located outside the Water and Sewer District and
<br />that some of the residents of the District are unable to obtain water service.
<br />The Board requested information regarding procedures for annexing those areas
<br />where water service is available into the District.
<br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Chairman Lentz and unani-
<br />mously carried, the Board approved the following budget amendment and accepted
<br />the low bid in the amount of $113,365.92 from RDR, Inc., for the Miami Church
<br />Road Water Project as recommended by Mr. W. E. Cochran, Jr.

<br />a letter from Governor James Martin announcing the award of a Pollution
<br />Prevention Challenge Grant of $5,000.00 to Cabarrus County for a county-wide
<br />recycling feasibility study. He stated this grant requires no county matching
<br />appropriation.
