Co.

Total Bid

$238,246.05

Mr. Bob Farris, Environmental Health Supervisor, presented the
recommendation from Mr. William F. Pilkington, Health Director, that the
County reject all bids and readvertise for the purchase of the scraper as the
delivery date on the scraper as bid would be at least six months. He reported
that an analysis of the bids had indicated that it was most cost effective
for the County to buy a scraper and dig the hole with County personnel.
UPON MOTION of Commissioner Melvin, seconded by Commissioner Hamby with
Commissioners Melvin, Hamby, and Payne, and Chairman Lentz voting for and
Commissioner Moss voting against, the Board approved the purchase of the
scraper as bid from Carolina Tractor and Equipment Company in the amount of
$238,246.05 and agreed to exercise the right to obtain additional help to
excavate the hole at the landfill at a cost not to exceed the $50,000.00
limit for construction and repairs and subject to prior approval by the
Board.
UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Payne with
Commissioners Payne, Melvin, and Hamby and Chairman Lentz voting for and
Commissioner Moss voting against, the Board rejected the bids listed as
Option 1 for the contracted excavation of a hole at the landfill.
The Board reviewed the proposal from John L. Roberts, P.E., Vice
President of Camp Dresser & McKee, to reduce the engineering services
amount for the Recycling Study Contract by $7,000.00 with the revised
contract amount to be $32,000.00.
