238 <br /> <br /> B. Parking Spaces for Court Officials: Eight (8) parking <br /> spaces shall be reserved for the exclusive use of Court officials <br /> of the General Court of Justice, more specifically reserved as <br /> follows: Four (4) parking spaces for Judges of the Superior and <br /> District Courts; and one (1) space each for the District Attorney, <br /> the Clerk of Superior Court, the Court Reporter, and the <br /> Magistrate's office. The location of each of these parking spaces <br /> shall be determined by the County Manager, and these spaces shall <br /> be designated by sign or other markings. <br /> G. Sheriff's Department and Jail Vehicles: Fifty-seven (57) <br />parking spaces are hereby designated as parking spaces for vehicles <br /> owned or operated by the Sheriff, Sheriff's Department or Jail <br /> employees or County-owned vehicles operated by Sheriff's Department <br /> officers. Of these spaces, one (1) space shall be reserved for each <br /> of the following officers: the Sheriff, the Chief Deputy, the <br /> Captain (Operations), and the Captain (Services). The location of <br /> these parking spaces shall be determined by the County Manager, and <br /> these spaces shall be designated by sign or other markings. <br /> D. Law Enforcement Vehicles Parking: Eleven (11) parking <br /> spaces are hereby designated as parking spaces for law enforcement <br /> vehicles. The location of these parking spaces shall be determined <br /> by the County Manager, and these spaces shall be designated by sign <br /> or other marking. Only official government-owned law enforcement <br /> vehicles may be parked in the spaces designated for law enforcement <br /> vehicles under the provisions of this subsection. <br /> E. Parking Space for Register of Deeds: One (1) parking <br /> space is hereby assigned to the Register of Deeds. The location of <br /> this parking space shall be determined by the County Manager, and <br /> this space shall be designated by sign or other markings. <br /> F. Commissioner Parking. On days when the Board of <br /> Commissioners is holding a meeting, the County Manager may designate <br /> five (5) spaces from the Law Enforcement Vehicles Parking spaces as <br /> reserved spaces for the parking of the County Commissioners. When <br /> said spaces are so designated, only County Commissioners may park <br /> therein. <br /> G. Repair and Emergency Vehicles: Vehicles being used during <br /> repair or construction work, when it is necessary for them to be <br /> parked in a space other than a parking space, and emergency vehicles <br /> being used for emergency purposes are hereby exempted from this <br /> ordinance. <br /> SECTION 4. PENALTIES <br /> A. Obedience to this ordinance is chargeable to the person <br /> actually operating or in control of the vehicle at the time it is <br /> parked on the Courthouse Lot; provided that proof of ownership of <br /> any vehicle found parked in violation of this ordinance shall be <br /> prima facte evidence that said owner parked said vehicle. <br /> B. The Sheriff of Cabarrus County, or any of his deputies, <br /> or any County employee authorized by the County Manager, shall cause <br /> to be attached to any vehicle parked in violation of the provisions <br /> of this ordinance a notice to the owner or operator thereof to <br /> report to the SheriffVs Department in regard to such violation. <br /> C. Each such owner or operator may, within twenty-four (24) <br /> hours of the time when such notice was attached to such vehicle, <br /> submit to the violation and pay, as a penalty in full satisfaction <br /> of such violation, the sum of Five Dollars ($5.00). The failure of <br /> such owner or operator to make such payment of said amount, within <br /> the said twenty-four (24) hours shall render such owner or operator <br /> subject to punishment for a misdemeanor as hereinafter provided. <br /> D. The violation of any of the provisions of this ordinance <br /> shall be a misdemeanor and punishable by fine not to exceed Fifty <br /> Dollars ($50.00) or imprisonment not to exceed thirty (30) days, or <br /> by both such fine and imprisonment in the discretion of the Court. <br /> E. Any vehicle parked in violation of this ordinance may be <br /> removed from the property by Cabarrus County or any agent of <br /> Cabarrus County to a storage area or garage. If a vehicle is so <br /> removed, the owner, as a condition of regaining possession of said <br /> vehicle, shall be required to pay to Cabarrus County all reasonable <br /> costs incidental to the removal and storage of the vehicle. <br /> F. The Deputy Sheriff on duty at the Cabarrus County <br /> Sheriff's Department shall accept designated penalties and issue <br /> <br /> <br />
