April ZS, 2016 (Regular Meeting) Page 2697 <br />Vice Chairman Honeycutt presented a service award to Deputy Howell and <br />commended him for his service. <br />(C -2) Planning and Development - Soil and Water - Daniel McClellan 2015 <br />Outstanding Technical District Employee of the Year Award <br />On behalf of the Soil and Water Conservation District, Kelly Sifford, <br />Planning and Development Director, recognized Daniel McClellan on his receipt <br />of the 2015 Outstanding Technical District Employee of the Year award. <br />Mr. McClellan graciously accepted the award and expressed appreciation <br />for the opportunity to work for the county. <br />(C -3) Active Living and Parks - Older Americans Month 2016 Proclamation <br />Chairman Morris read the proclamation aloud. <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Honeycutt, seconded by Commissioner Mynatt <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following proclamation. <br />Proclamation No. 2016 -07 <br />PROCLAMATION <br />OLDER AMERICANS MONTH MAY 2016 <br />"Blaze A Trail!" <br />WHEREAS, Cabarrus County Senior Centers Advisory Council recognizes that <br />older adults are trailblazers -- advocating for themselves, their <br />peers, and their communities - paving the way for future generations; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Cabarrus County Senior Centers Advisory Council is committed to <br />raising awareness about issues facing older Americans and helping <br />all individuals to thrive in communities of their choice for as <br />long as possible; and <br />WHEREAS, Cabarrus County Senior Centers Advisory Council will continue to <br />provide hours of volunteer, community, and civic service, and <br />WHEREAS, we appreciate the value of inclusion and support in helping older <br />adults successfully contribute to and benefit from their <br />communities; and <br />WHEREAS, Cabarrus County Senior Centers can provide opportunities to enrich <br />the lives of individuals of all ages by; <br />• Promoting and engaging in activity, wellness, and social <br />involvement <br />• Emphasizing home- and community -based services that support <br />independent living <br />• Ensuring community members can benefit from the contributions <br />and experience of older adults. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners do hereby proclaim May 2016 as Older Americans Month. <br />Adopted this the 18th day of April, 2016. <br />/s/ Stephen M.
