Morris, Chairman <br /> Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br /> (D) INFORMAL COMMENTS <br /> None. <br /> (E) OLD BUSINESS <br /> None. <br /> (F) CONSENT <br /> (F-1) BOC - Dissolution of Food Policy Council <br /> The Board of Commissioners' voted to create the Food Policy Council in <br /> April 2010. The Council's last Board-appointed members came on in December <br /> 2013, and shortly thereafter in July 2014, the Food Policy Council voted to <br /> rename itself. <br /> Renamed as the Cabarrus County Food and Farm Council, the group has <br /> continued to meet and operate, but as a separate entity versus an appointed <br /> board. All member terms on file have since expired, and our office has not <br /> received a request for the Board of Commissioners to make reappointments. It <br /> is recommended to officially dissolve the Food Policy Council. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Kiger, seconded by Vice Chairman Honeycutt <br /> and unanimously carried, the Board approved A Resolution Dissolving the Food <br /> Policy Council Pursuant to NCGS 153A-76 and 153A-77. <br /> Resolution No. 2017-05 <br /> A RESOLUTION DISSOLVING THE <br /> FOOD POLICY COUNCIL PURSUANT TO <br /> NORTH CAROLINA GENERAL STATUTES §153A-76 and 153A-77 <br /> WHEREAS, the Food Policy Council was established by the Cabarrus County Board <br /> of Commissioners on April 19, 2010 in response to other sustainable community <br /> initiatives at the time; and <br /> WHEREAS, since that time the Food Policy Council has not been active as a <br /> County-appointed board since December 2013; and <br /> WHEREAS, all member terms have expired and requests have not been made for the <br /> Board to appoint or reappoint members; and <br /> WHEREAS, members of the Food Policy Council voted to rename the Council as the <br /> Cabarrus County Food and Farm Council in July 2014; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Cabarrus County Food and Farm Council now meets and operates <br /> separately from its Board-appointed origins; and <br /> WHEREAS, North Carolina General Statutes §153A-76 and 153A-77 set forth the <br /> authority of County Boards of Commissioners over commissions, boards and <br /> agencies and authorizes the Board to dissolve the Food Policy Council. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CABARRUS COUNTY BOARD OF <br /> COMMISSIONERS HEREBY dissolves the Food Policy Council, effective March 20, <br /> 2017. <br /> Adopted this the 20th day of March, 2017. <br /> /s/ Stephen M.
