May 15, 2017 (Regular Meeting) Page 3118 <br /> Vice Chairman Honeycutt presented Ms. Prather with a service award in <br /> appreciation for her service and dedication to the citizens of Cabarrus County. <br /> Ms. Prather graciously accepted the award and expressed appreciation. <br /> Chairman Morris also commended Ms. Prather for her service. <br /> (C-3) Cooperative Extension - Recognition of Graduating Cabarrus County Youth <br /> Commissioners <br /> Tracy LeCompte, Cabarrus County Youth Commission Advisor, announced this <br /> is the fourth graduating group from the Cabarrus County Youth Commission during <br /> her tenure as the Youth Commission Advisor. <br /> Clay Maquire, President, Cabarrus County Youth Commission, presented an <br /> update regarding Commission activities over the year. He also expressed <br /> appreciation for the opportunities the Commission has afforded him. <br /> The following graduating seniors were recognized and announced their <br /> future plans: Mckenzie Arstark from First Assembly High School, Kayla <br /> Bollenbecker from Mount Pleasant High School, Julia Allen from Mount Pleasant <br /> High School, Clay Maquire from Cannon High School, Macie Eury from A. L. Brown <br /> High School and Justen Morgan from A. L. Brown High School. Graduating seniors <br /> not in attendance were: Keely Curry from Central Cabarrus High School, Anum <br /> Imran from Hickory Ridge High School, Abby Moose from Northwest Cabarrus High <br /> School and Nicholas Walker from Cox Mill High School. <br /> Chairman Morris thanked the youth commissioners and wished them well in <br /> their endeavors. <br /> (C-4) EMS - Cabarrus County Emergency Services Week Proclamation <br /> Alan Thompson, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Director, announced <br /> National Emergency Medical Services Week begins today. He thanked the Board <br /> for their support of EMS and requested adoption of the proclamation. <br /> Chairman Morris read the proclamation aloud. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Kiger, seconded by Commissioner Shue and <br /> unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following proclamation. <br /> Proclamation No. 2017-06 <br /> CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> North Carolina <br /> P R O C L A M A T I O N <br /> WHEREAS, emergency medical services is a vital public service; and <br /> WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical services teams are ready to provide <br /> lifesaving care to those in need 24 hours a day, seven days a week; and <br /> WHEREAS, access to quality emergency care dramatically improves the survival <br /> and recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness or injury; and <br /> WHEREAS, emergency medical services teams consist of emergency physicians, <br /> emergency nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, firefighters, <br /> educators, administrators, and others; and <br /> WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical services teams, whether career or <br /> volunteer, engage in thousands of hours of specialized training and continuing <br /> education to enhance their lifesaving skills; and <br /> WHEREAS, Americans benefit daily from the knowledge and skills of these highly <br /> trained individuals; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the value and the accomplishments of <br /> emergency medical service providers by designating Emergency Medical Services <br /> Week; and <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that we, the Cabarrus County Board of <br /> Commissioners, in recognition of this event do hereby proclaim the week of May <br /> 21 - 27, 2017, as <br /> CABARRUS COUNTY EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK <br />
