Morris, Chairman <br /> Board of Commissioners <br /> ATTEST: <br /> /s/ Megan Smit <br /> Megan Smit, Clerk to the Board <br /> (C-5) BOC - Memorial Day Proclamation <br /> Chairman Morris read the proclamation aloud. <br /> UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Honeycutt, seconded by Commissioner Kiger <br /> and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following proclamation. <br /> Proclamation No. 2017-07 <br /> MEMORIAL DAY 2017 PROCLAMATION <br /> WHEREAS, across this great country, America will join on May 29, 2017 to <br /> honor her fallen heroes of the Armed Forces; and <br /> WHEREAS, Memorial Day was first proclaimed a national holiday in 1868 to <br /> pay homage to those who answered the call to defend the principles on which our <br /> nation was founded; and <br /> WHEREAS, throughout the course of generations, both at home and on foreign <br /> soil, men and women in uniform have sacrificed for the promise of freedom, the <br /> preservation of our values and the ideals of democracy; and <br /> WHEREAS, men and women in uniform have paid for our Liberty with their <br /> lives, we hold in remembrance their selflessness with deepest honor and respect <br /> and are indebted to their memories for the valiant and honorable path of service <br /> they followed; and <br /> WHEREAS, we share in the sorrow with and express our support to the <br /> families who also sacrificed greatly for their fellow citizens as they gave up <br /> their sons and daughters to serve our country and to search for a day when peace <br /> will abound. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board of <br /> Commissioners do hereby proclaim Memorial Day, May 29, 2017 in recognition of <br /> the men and women in uniform who have made the supreme sacrifice and further <br /> urge all citizens to pause for a moment of silence at noon on May 29, 2017 to <br /> honor and to reflect on the memory of our fallen heroes of the Armed Forces. <br /> Adopted this the 15th day of May, 2017. <br /> /s/ Stephen M. Morris, Chairman <br /> Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br /> /s/ Megan Smit <br /> Megan Smit, Clerk to the Board <br /> (D) INFORMAL COMMENTS <br /> Chairman Morris opened the meeting for Informal Public Comments at 6:56 <br /> p.m. He stated each speaker would be limited to three minutes. <br /> With there being no one to address the Board, Chairman Morris closed that <br /> portion of the meeting. <br /> (E) OLD BUSINESS <br /> (E-1) Infrastructure and Asset Management - Update on Sale of 2323 Concord <br /> Lake Road <br /> In regards to the listing of the county office building located at 2323 <br /> Concord Lake Road for public sale, Kyle Bilafer, Area Manager, requested the <br /> Board approve lowering the asking price $439, 000.00 to $375, 000.00. He advised <br /> there have been interested parties, but only one offer for purchase, well below <br /> the asking price. He further advised staff has consulted with our sales agent <br />
