May 15, 2017 (Regular Meeting) Page 3154 UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Honeycutt, seconded by Commissioner Shue and unanimously carried, the Board scheduled a public hearing on the proposed FY18 Cabarrus County budget for Monday, June 19, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. or as soon thereafter as persons may be heard. (H) APPOINTMENTS TO BOARDS AND COMMITTEES (H-1) Appointments and Removals - Active Living and parks Commission It is requested to remove Samantha Fisk from the Active Living and Parks Commission roster, as her place of residence no longer qualifies her for the "Eastern area" representative seat. A list of current applicants on file was provided to the Board. From the list, Ms. Patsy Brown qualifies for the "Eastern area" seat. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Kiger, seconded by Commissioner Shue unanimously carried, the Board removed Samantha Fisk from the Active Living and Parks Commission roster and thanked her for her service. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Shue, seconded by Vice Chairman Honeycutt and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Patsy Brown to the Active Living and Parks Commission as the "Eastern" area representative to complete an unexpired term ending January 31, 2020. (H-2) Appointments - Cabarrus County Planning and Zoning Commission An application has been received from Mr. Brent Rockett, who is eligible to fill the "Kannapolis Planning Area Representative" seat on the Cabarrus County Planning and Zoning Commission. The City of Kannapolis submitted a letter of recommendation in support of Mr. Rockett's appointment. Since the Kannapolis seat has an unexpired term ending in August, staff requests an appointment term of three years in addition to the unexpired term. (H-3) Appointments and Removals - Cabarrus County Youth Commission Several youth commissioners need to be removed from the Cabarrus County Youth Commission roster due to high school graduation: Julia Allen Mount Pleasant High School Mckenzie Arstark At-large - First Assembly High School Kayla Bollenbecker Mount Pleasant High School Keely Curry Central Cabarrus High School Macie Eury A. L. Brown High School Anum Imran Hickory Ridge High School John Clay Maguire At-large - Cannon High School Abby Moose Northwest Cabarrus High School Justen Morgan A. L. Brown High School Nicholas Walker Cox Mill High School Also, Joseph Muhonen's term on the Cabarrus County Youth Commission ends June 30, 2017. He is not interested in serving another term. The Youth Commission held applicant interviews and recommends the following for appointment: Jackson Lambert Central Cabarrus High School Thomas Walter Concord High School Devin Mullins Concord High School Avery Calkins Hickory Ridge High School Mariah-Sydney Steele Northwest Cabarrus High School Stephan Anderson At-large - Early College High School Noopur Parikh' s term on the Cabarrus County Youth Commission expires June 30, 2017 .
