April 20, 2075 (Regular Meeting) Page 2353 <br />Commissioner Honeycutt MOVED to adopt the proclamation. Vice Chairman <br />Poole seconded the motion. <br />Commissioner Mynatt commended the EMS staff for their skills and <br />service to the community. <br />Chairman Morris also commended the EMS staff stating the EMS Department <br />has won many national and regional awards. <br />The MOTION unanimously carried. <br />Proclamation No. 2015 -06 <br />CABARRUS COUNTY <br />North Carolina <br />P R O C L A M A T I O N <br />WHEREAS, emergency medical services is a vital public service; and <br />WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical services teams are ready to <br />provide lifesaving care to those in need 24 hours a day, seven <br />days a week; and <br />WHEREAS, access to quality emergency care dramatically improves the <br />survival and recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness <br />or injury; and <br />WHEREAS, emergency medical services teams consist of emergency physicians, <br />emergency nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, <br />firefighters, educators, administrators, and others; and <br />WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical services teams, whether career <br />or volunteer, engage in thousands of hours of specialized <br />training and continuing education enhance their lifesaving <br />skills; and <br />WHEREAS, Americans benefit daily from the knowledge and skills of these <br />highly trained individuals; and <br />WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the value and the accomplishments <br />of emergency medical service providers by designating Emergency <br />Medical Services Week; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that we, the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners, in recognition of this event do hereby proclaim the week of <br />May 17 - 23, 2015, as <br />CABARRUS COUNTY EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK <br />Adopted this 20th day of April, 2015. <br />/s/ Stephen M. Morris, Chairman <br />Board of Commissioners <br />ATTEST: <br />/s/ Megan Smit <br />Megan Smit, Clerk to the Board <br />(C -5) Planning and Development - Soil and Water Conservation Distract - <br />Stewardshi.p Week Proolamation <br />Dennis Testerman, Senior Resource Conservation Specialist, provided <br />bookmarks to Board members commemorating Soil and Water Stewardship Week. <br />Ned Hudson, Cabarrus Soil and Water Conservation District Board of <br />Supervisors, advised Stewardship Week has been promoted by the National <br />Association of Conservation Districts since 1955, and has been observed by <br />Cabarrus Soil and Water Conservation District since the district was created <br />as a single- county district by state statute in 1963. He explained the <br />stewardship concept involves personal and social responsibility, including a <br />duty to learn about and improve natural resources as we use them wisely, <br />leaving a rich legacy for future generations. <br />Chairman Morris read the proclamation aloud. <br />
