October 5, 2015 (Work Session) Page 2557 <br />As part of the County's work plan in FY 2016, Kasia Thompson, <br />Communications and Outreach Manager, stated plans were made to develop a <br />county logo. She advised through an opportunity with the CVB's wayfinding <br />project, the CVB allowed the County to use an adaptation of their logo. She <br />presented the following logo developed by Michael Bonoffski, CVB, Senior Vice <br />President of Marketing and Communications and requested feedback from the <br />Board. <br />CRBMMRUS <br />Mike Downs, County Manager, advised funds are included in the budget to <br />work on a county branding campaign which includes the logo. <br />A discussion ensued. During discussion, the CVB presented the Board <br />with baseball caps displaying the draft logo. By consensus, the Board <br />approved the logo. <br />Discussion Items for Action at October 19, 2015 Meetin <br />DDS -- Transportation - FY17 5311 Communit y Trans portatio n Grant <br />Suzanne Moose, Assistant Human Services Director, presented a request <br />for the FY17 5311 Community Transportation Grant. She stated a public <br />hearing is needed for the acceptance of the grant. <br />Bob Bushey, Transportation Manager, advised the North Carolina 5311 <br />Community Transportation Grant provides funding for County Transportation <br />administrative costs such as salaries, insurance, equipment and supplies. <br />This grant requires a 15 percent county match for the administrative side and <br />a 10 percent match for any capital. <br />A discussion ensued. During discussion, Ms. Moose and Mr. Bushey <br />responded to questions from the Board. <br />DHS - Transportation - Rural Operating Assistance Program (ROAD) <br />Suzanne Moose, Assistant Human Services Director, presented a request <br />for the Rural Operating Assistance Program (ROAP) . She stated the ROAP is a <br />State- funded transportation grant program and includes the Elderly and <br />Disabled (EDTAP), Employment Transportation Assistance Program (EMPL) and the <br />Rural General Public (RGP). She advised a public hearing is required. <br />Bob Bushey, Transportation Manager, advised the grant is due on the <br />same date as the regular meeting. <br />EMS - Approval of Special Event Charge <br />Will Cannon, EMS (Emergency Medical Services) Relief Supervisor, <br />presented a request for an EMS special event charge to cover the unit hour <br />cost of providing services to special events. He stated the present actual <br />unit utilization cost (and the requested charge amount) is $82.00 per hour <br />(two EMS technicians, equipment and unit). <br />A discussion ensued. During discussion, Mr. Cannon responded to <br />questions from the Board. <br />KCS - Additional Capital Funding for Welding Program <br />Will Crabtree, KCS (Kannapolis City Schools) Director of Business <br />Operations, presented a request for additional capital funding for the <br />welding program upgrade. He advised an additional $150,000.00 in funds are <br />needed to add the required sprinkler system, two exits, electrical and HVAC <br />system upgrades. The costs were added to the project after the NC Department <br />of Insurance, Cabarrus County building inspectors and Kannapolis Fire <br />Department reviewed the drawings. He also responded to questions from the <br />Board. <br />
