<br />Pam Dubois, Deputy County Manager, advised when the Board approved
<br />school staff salary increase on January 30 funding was not approved. She
<br />requested the Board to suspend its Rules of Procedure and adopt a budget
<br />amendment required to fund the salary increase approved at the January 30
<br />meeting.
<br />A brief discussion ensued.
<br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Measmer, seconded by Vice Chairman Burrage
<br />and unanimously carried, the Board suspended its Rules of Procedure to take
<br />action on this item due to time constraints.
<br />Chairman Poole questioned the County Attorney regarding her vote on
<br />this item. As a Cabarrus County Schools employee, she was recused from the
<br />vote to increase salaries.
<br />Richard Hoch, County Attorney, affirmed that she is eligible to vote on
<br />the budget amendment.
<br />Vice Chairman Burrage MOVED to adopt the budget amendment.
<br />Commissioner Oesterreich seconded the motion.
<br />In response to an article published in The Independent Tribune,
<br />Commissioner Oesterreich clarified funds are available and have not all been
<br />spent.
<br />Following a brief discussion, the MOTION unanimously carried.
