March 12, 2014 (Special Meeting) Page 1943 <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the Kannapolis City Schools Board of Education <br />unanimously resolves to request the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners to <br />place a bond referendum on the November, 2014 ballot which includes the <br />following items in priority order for Kannapolis City Schools, for <br />$31,135,000.00 <br />1. New Middle School <br />2. Gym Facility at Jackson Park Elementary <br />3. Gym Facility at Woodrow Wilson Elementary <br />4. Repair and Renovation at A.L. Brown High School <br />5. System wide Parking Lot Repair <br />Adopted this the 10th day of February, 2014, <br />/s/ Todd Adams <br />Chair, Board of Education <br />Attest: <br />1s/ Nancy Barger <br />Will Crabtree, KCS Director of Business Operations, advised the <br />priority of requests was revised and they are now listed in the following <br />order: <br />Todd Adams, KCS Board of Education Chairman, advised the Woodrow Wilson <br />Gym Addition was moved to the bottom of the list due to the facility being <br />partially located in Rowan County. <br />Mr. Crabtree advised many of the renovation requests are in regards to <br />safety upgrades. He stated the large parking lot across from A.L. Brown is <br />experiencing sinkholes and will require a total renovation. <br />Chairman Adams and Dr. Pamela Cain, KCS Superintendent, advised the <br />list is prioritized and requested if any items are removed, that they be <br />removed in order of least importance. <br />Commissioner Oesterreich compared a 20 -year bond to short -term <br />financing and suggested short -term funding for the new middle school as a way <br />to reduce debt. <br />A discussion ensued.
