Smit, Clerk to the Board <br />(G -4) Finance - Contribution to the Workers Compensation Fund <br />Ann Wilson, Finance Director, presented a request for a budget <br />amendment for a contribution to the Workers Compensation Fund for <br />$981,000.00. <br />Commissioner Oesterreich MOVED to table the Contribution to the Workers <br />Compensation Fund item to the June regular meeting in order to look at it in <br />terms of the budget. <br />Following a brief discussion, Commissioner Oesterreich MOVED to amend <br />his motion to table the Contribution to the Workers Compensation Fund until <br />the June meeting, when the Board will have gone through the budget process <br />and be able to more adequately look at the amount of $981,000.00 requested <br />for the fund. <br />Chairman Poole clarified the motion stating the motion is to table this <br />item until the June regular meeting once the Board has gone through the <br />budget process. <br />Following a brief discussion, Vice Chairman Burrage seconded the <br />MOTION. <br />The MOTION failed, with Vice Chairman Burrage and Commissioner <br />Oesterreich voting for and Chairman Poole and Commissioner Morris voting <br />against. <br />UPON MOTION of Chairman Poole, seconded by Commissioner Morris and <br />carried, with Chairman Poole, Vice Chairman Burrage and Commissioner Morris <br />voting for and Commissioner Oesterreich voting against, the Board adopted the <br />following budget amendment to fund $961,000.00 to the Workers Compensation <br />Fund. <br />Date. 5/19/2014 Amount: $981, 000 <br />Dept. In the resolution, <br />the KCS BOE resolved: 1) to accept the offer of the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners to provide funds to Kannapolis City Schools in fiscal year <br />2014 -15 for a new Middle School up to the amount of $23 million; and in <br />reliance thereon; and 2) to withdraw the February 10, 2014 Resolution of Bond <br />Referendum. <br />
