Communications and Outreach staff won <br />awards for "Cabarrus This Week" and the "Hunger Games Community Read" <br />promotional video. Channel 22 programs can be viewed on Channel 22 and <br />www.cabarruscountv.us. <br />Mr. Bullard recognized David Baxter, Channel 22 General Manager and <br />Kasia Thompson, Communications and Outreach Manager in attendance and thanked <br />everyone for their support. He stated the awards will be displayed in the <br />Rotunda. <br />(C -4) Planning and Development - Recognition of Shannon Johnson for <br />Outstanding Contributions to Local Sustainability, Local Economy 2013 Award <br />Kelly Sifford, Planning and Development Director, recognized Shannon <br />Johnson, Project Manager for the Council for a Sustainable Local Economy, for <br />receiving the Outstanding Contributions to Local Sustainability, Local <br />Economy 2013 Award. Sustain Charlotte awarded this honor to Ms. Johnson <br />based on her implementation efforts with Think Cabarrus First and <br />organizational efforts that started the first statewide Local Economy Summit <br />for North Carolina as well as the Slow Money NC, Charlotte Chapter. <br />Ms. Johnson thanked everyone for their support. <br />(C -5) Active Living and Parks - Senior Centers Advisory Council - Older <br />Americans Month May 2013 Proclamation <br />Chairman Poole read the proclamation proclaiming May 2013 as Older <br />Americans Month aloud. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Burrage, seconded by Vice Chairman White <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following proclamation: <br />Proclamation <br />Older Americans Month May 2013 <br />Proclamation No. 2013 -04 <br />WHEREAS, Cabarrus County Senior Centers Advisory Council is committed to the <br />47,104 Cabarrus County older adults and adults with disabilities ages 60 and <br />older projected as of July 1, 2025 (Data retrieved from NC Data Center on <br />October 22, 2012); and <br />WHEREAS, Cabarrus County Senior Centers Advisory Council is committed to <br />valuing all individuals and recognizing their ongoing life achievements; and <br />WHEREAS, the older adults and adults with disabilities in Cabarrus County <br />play an important role by continuing to contribute experience, knowledge, <br />wisdom, and accomplishments; and <br />WHEREAS, our older adults and adults with disabilities are active community <br />members involved in volunteering, mentorship, arts and culture, and civic <br />engagement; and <br />WHEREAS, recognizing the successes of Cabarrus County older adults and adults <br />with disabilities and encouraging their ongoing participation and further <br />accomplishments; and <br />WHEREAS, our community can provide opportunities to allow older adults and <br />adults with disabilities to continue to flourish by: <br />
