August 19, 2013 (Regular Meeting) Page 1644 <br />(Recessed Meeting) , May 29, 2013 (Recessed Meeting) , May 30, 2013 (Recessed <br />Meeting) and June 3, 2013 (Work Session) as written. <br />(C) APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA <br />Chairman Poole reviewed the following changes to the Agenda: <br />Additions: <br />Appointment of Commissioner* <br />A -1 BOC - Appointment of Incoming Commissioner <br />A -2 DOC - Swearing -In of Incoming Commissioner <br />New Business <br />H -8 County Manager - NC Cooperative Extension Service Request for Special <br />Leave <br />Appointments to Boards and Committees <br />I -2 Appointments - BOC - Amendments to Commissioner Appointments for 2013 <br />I -3 Appointments - Cabarrus County Tourism Authority <br />*Due to the addition of Section A, Appointment of Commissioner, all of the <br />following sections were renumbered accordingly. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Burrage, seconded by Vice Chairman Measmer <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the Agenda as amended. <br />(D) RECOGNITIONS AND PRESENTATIONS <br />(D -1) Human Services - Child Support Awareness Month Proclamation <br />Chairman Poole read the proclamation aloud. <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Measmer, seconded by Commissioner Burrage <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following proclamation: <br />Proclamation No. 2013 -11 <br />CHILD SUPPORT AWARENESS MONTH <br />IN CABARRUS COUNTY <br />A PROCLAMATION <br />WHEREAS, the welfare of our children is the most important responsibility <br />we have as parents. A child should be able to depend on support from both <br />parents; and <br />WHEREAS, children who do not receive adequate financial and emotional <br />support from both parents may experience greater difficulty in becoming <br />healthy, happy, and productive citizens of this County. In such cases, the <br />taxpayers of this County support the children whose parents fail to meet this <br />responsibility; and <br />WHEREAS, many concerned and dedicated judges, district attorneys, clerks <br />of court, sheriffs' personnel, and child support professionals work to <br />provide this service to Cabarrus County's children . . . our future; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners does hereby proclaim the month of September as <br />CHILD SUPPORT AWARENESS MONTH IN CABARRUS COUNTY <br />and urges all parents who are currently under court order to regularly pay <br />their child support. <br />This the 19th day of August, 2013. <br />/s/ Elizabeth F.
