No action was <br />required of the Board. <br />(H -5) CCS - Proposed Sale of Property <br />Chairman Poole recognized Blake Kiger, Cabarrus County School (CCS) <br />Board of Education Vice Chair, in attendance. She briefly outlined the <br />process the school system follows when seeking to sell property. <br />Len Witke, CCS, presented the following information relating to the <br />proposed sale of property to the City of Concord: <br />The City of Concord has approached Cabarrus County Schools Board <br />of Education (BOE) with a request to purchase the Webb Field <br />property. The property consists of 8.4474 acres of land on which <br />are constructed several buildings and other improvements made by <br />the City over time. This represents a value, based on the <br />attached appraisal, of $210,000.00, which is what the City has <br />offered to pay the DOE for the property. Currently, the City of <br />Concord rents the property for $1.00 per year and over the course <br />of more than half a century the City has made investments in the <br />property which has included the construction of the swimming pool <br />and related buildings, as well as other building and field <br />improvements. The City would like to replace the football and <br />baseball field lighting at this time and make other significant <br />improvements to the buildings in the future. <br />If the Board of Commissioners chooses not to allow the sale of <br />the land to proceed, then it is the City's request that its lease <br />be extended for a minimum period of at least fifty (50) years at <br />the current rate so the City's investment in the facilities on <br />the property will be of use to the community for at least that <br />amount of time. Therefore, it is the Board of Education's <br />request that the Board of Commissioners refuse its right to <br />
