Smit, Clerk to the Board <br />(G -2) General Services - Concord Senior Center Addition /Renovations Bid <br />Award <br />Kyle Bilafer, General Services Director, reported four (4) sealed bids <br />from informal bidding were solicited for the Concord Senior Center <br />Addition /Renovations and were received on August 14, 2013. Staff reviewed <br />the submissions and a summary tabulation is attached. Ike °s Construction, <br />Inc. was the low bidder for a cost of $315,064.00 (base bid of $310,664.00 <br />with alternates totaling $4,400.00). The budget for the construction portion <br />of the Concord Senior Center addition and renovations is $326,000.00, <br />therefore the base bid and alternates are below the budgeted amount. During discussion, Mr. Bilafer and Mike Downs, <br />County Manager, responded to questions from the Board. <br />Commissioner Burrage expressed concern regarding the timing and expense <br />of the project. <br />Commissioner Oesterreich expressed his intent to vote against the bid <br />award citing the cost of the project. <br />Vice Chairman Measmer expressed support for the project, stating the <br />expansion will maximize the space and increase use of the Senior Center. <br />Commissioner Morris expressed support for the project bid award citing <br />funds and staff time already invested in the project as well as the need for <br />the renovations. <br />Chairman Poole expressed support for the bid award, stating the project <br />is the direct result of a request brought before the Board to provide the <br />growing senior citizen population more space at the facility. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Morris, seconded by Vice Chairman Measmer <br />and carried with Chairman Poole, Vice Chairman Measmer and Commissioner <br />Morris voting for and Commissioners Burrage and Oesterreich voting against, <br />
