UPON MOTION of Commissioner White, seconded by Commissioner Carruth and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Mike Faggart (Allen) and David R. Blackwelder (Cold Water) as Firemen's Relief Fund Trustees to complete unexpired terms ending January 31, 2013; appointed Kelly Whitley (Georgeville), Tim Wooten (Harrisburg) and Michael Gatton (Mt. Mitchell) as Firemen's Relief Fund Trustees for one -year terms ending January 31, 2013; appointed Lee Connor (Harrisburg) and Jacob Williams (Odell) as Firemen's Relief Fund Trustees for two -year terms ending January 31, 2014; and reappointed Jimmy Morgan (Allen), John A. Walker (Cold Water), Tommy Lowder (Flowes Store), Joseph Chandler (Georgeville), Joe Eudy (Midland), Bobby Kanipe (Mt. Mitchell), Del Eudy (Mt. Pleasant Rural) and Earlene Cox (Rimer) as Firemen's Relief Fund Trustees for two -year terms ending January 31, 2014. (H -2) Appointment - Cabarrus County Youth Council An application was received from Wells King for the Youth Council. Mr. King attends Covenant Classical School and is recommended for the vacant "At- large" position on the Council. UPON MOTION of Commissioner White, seconded by Commissioner Measmer and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Wells King to the Cabarrus County Youth Council for a two -year term ending February 21, 2014. (I) REPORTS (I -1) EDC - EDC Quarterly Report for October 1 - December 31, 2011 The Board received the following report as part of the Agenda: the EDC Quarterly Report for October 1 - December 31, 2011. (I -2) BOC - Receive Updates from Commission Members Who Serve as Liaisons to Municipalities or on Various Board /Committees None. (I -3) Request for Applications for County Boards /Committees Applications are being accepted for the following County Boards /Committees: • Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee (4 Vacancies) • Agricultural Advisory Board • Animal Protection and Preservation Advisory Committee • Concord Planning and Zoning Commission (ETJ) • Council for a Sustainable Local Economy • Harrisburg Fire Advisory Board • Industrial Facilities and Pollution Control Financing Authority • Juvenile Crime Prevention Council ® Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee (5 Vacancies) • Parks Commission • Youth Council - Cox Mill High School Chairman Poole asked citizens to consider participating on a Board or Committee. (J) GENERAL COMMENTS BY BOARD MEMBERS Commissioner Carruth announced he was appointed to the LME (Local Management Entities) Governance subcommittee and addressed the Samaritan's Feet initiative.
