Station 2 cost $1.2 <br />million to build. Station 2 payments increased from $3,000.00 to <br />$6,000.00 on 7 -1 -2012, with a balloon payment of 360,000.00 due <br />on 7 -1 -2017. <br />Corning is the most complex and technical manufacturing facility <br />in Cabarrus County. (2 million sq ft under roof) <br />Example Personal Property <br />In March 2003, Corning in Wilmington NC had a fire that the <br />Wilmington Fire Department, which is fully staffed with paid fire <br />fighters, had problems extinguishing. End results were the plant <br />was shut down for 30 days due to fire damage. <br />Corning has indicated they feel we should have a ladder truck in <br />order to meet their fire protection needs. We currently have on <br />first alarm 2 ladder trucks responding automatic aid, from two <br />out of county departments, Mecklenburg and Stanly Counties. <br />Incentive Grant Rebates paid to Corning by Midland Fire <br />Department: <br />2001 163,203.00 <br />2002 227,180.00 <br />2003 197,384.00 <br />2004 149,441.00 <br />2005 75,072.00 <br />Total 812,280.00 <br />This budget we are requesting will not support the needed ladder <br />company, but it will help to ensure adequate apparatus, equipment <br />and personnel. <br />Additional Staffing: 2011 call load - 674 <br />Here at Midland Fire Department we try to be good stewards of the <br />citizens' tax dollars. <br />Example - Past budgets 3 rd year of new budget form, Midland has <br />been doing for 12 years. <br />Example - Foam Trailer <br />In closing the increase will assist in replacing apparatus and <br />insuring adequate personnel staffing. <br />Mr. Eudy also addressed budgetary concerns, including debt service and <br />equipment issues. He also responded to questions from the Board. Chief <br />Burnette stated his willingness to consider certain findings contained in the <br />"Operating Cost Analysis Report" prepared by Public Safety Solutions, Inc., <br />regarding bulk purchasing and compatible equipment. A discussion ensued with <br />Mr. Eudy and Chief Burnette responding to additional questions from the <br />Board. <br />Harrisburg Fire Department <br />Tim Hagler, Mayor of Harrisburg and Chief Bryan Dunn presented a <br />request for a $0.1118 tax rate for FY 13 which would be used primarily for <br />the construction of Station No. 3 and fire apparatus for the new station. <br />This increase would result in a tax rate of $0.1118 cents for residents <br />inside and outside the town limits.
