Ms. Helms has served <br />on the Region F Aging Advisory Committee, as a regular member or as an <br />alternate, since 2004. Therefore, an exception to the "length of service" <br />provision of the Appointment Policy is requested. In addition, Ms. Helms <br />also serves on the Aging Advisory Committee. Therefore, an exception to the <br />"multiple service" provision of the Appointment Policy is also requested. <br />Ms. Croom also serves on the HCCBG (Home and Community Care Block Grant <br />Committee). An exception to the "multiple service" provision of the <br />Appointment Policy is requested. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner White, seconded by Commissioner Measmer and <br />unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Mary (Beth) Croom for a two -yeas <br />term ending June 30, 2014 and reappointed Anita Helms (alternate) for a one - <br />year term ending June 30, 2013 to the Region F Aging Advisory Committee, <br />including exceptions to the Appointment Policy as requested by the Centralina <br />Council of Governments. <br />Following the vote, Ms. Helms announced she does not wish to be <br />reappointed. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner White, seconded by Commissioner Measmer and <br />unanimously carried, the Board amended the previous motion to remove Ms. <br />Helms per her request. <br />(H -8) Appointments - Tourism Authority <br />The Cabarrus County Tourism Authority Board of Directors has 3 seats <br />that need to be appointed for the term commencing July 1, 2012 and expiring <br />on June 30, 2015. The nominating group and their nominees are as follows: <br />• Cabarrus Regional Chamber of Commerce - Seat 46 - Joel Griffin <br />• Cabarrus County Tourism Authority - Seat #5 - William Rienks <br />• Cabarrus County Tourism Authority - Seat #11 - Jennifer Parsley <br />Mr. Griffin is with Griffin Stafford, LLC and represents an integral <br />part of the Cabarrus County tourism industry. Mr. Griffin is also a resident <br />of Mecklenburg County; therefore, an exception to the Appointment Policy's <br />residency provision is requested. <br />In addition, the term for Seat No. 4 (BOC Member or County Manager) <br />ends June 30. Commissioner White represents the Board on this Authority. <br />UPON MOTION of Chairman Poole, seconded by Commissioner Measmer and <br />unanimously carried, the Board appointed Joel Griffin (hotelier) to Seat No. <br />6 as nominated by the Cabarrus Regional Chamber of Commerce, to the Tourism <br />Authority for a three -year term ending June 30, 2015, including an exception <br />to the residency provision of the Appointment Policy; appointed William <br />Rienks (hotelier) to Seat No. 5 to the Tourism Authority (nominated by the <br />Tourism Authority) , for a three -year term ending June 30, 2015; appointed <br />Jennifer Parsley (at large) to Seat No. 11 to the Tourism Authority <br />(nominated by the Tourism Authority), for a three -year term ending June 30, <br />2015; and reappointed Jay White, a County Commissioner to fill Seat No. 4 <br />([at large] BOC Member or County Manager) for a 3 -year term ending June 30, <br />2015. <br />(H -9) Appointments - Water and Sewer Authority of Cabarrus County <br />The County appoints two (2) members of the Commission to the Water and <br />Sewer Authority. The terms for Commissioners Carruth and Poole end in. June. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner White, seconded by Vice Chairman Burrage <br />and unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Commissioner Carruth and <br />Chairman Poole to the Water and Sewer Authority of Cabarrus County for three - <br />year terms ending June 2015. <br />(I) REPORTS <br />(I -1) CVB - Cabarrus County Tourism Authority 2 nd and 3 =d Quarter 2011/ <br />Financial Update <br />The Board received the Cabarrus County Tourism Authority 2 nd and 3rd <br />Quarter 2011/2012 Financial Update for informational purposes as part of the <br />Agenda. <br />
