) <br />f <br />February 21, 2011 (Regular Meeting) Page 332 <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Vice Chairman Poole <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Judge Martin McGee to the <br />Criminal Justice Partnership Program Advisory Board to complete an unexpired <br />term ending April 30, 2013. <br />(H -3) Appointment - Juvenile Crime Prevention Council <br />( <br />An appointment of a Chief District Court Judge or designee is needed to <br />replace Judge Michael Knox. Chief District Court Judge William G. Hamby, Jr. <br />de8ignated newly elected district court judge, D. Brent Cloninger to fill t <br />this position. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Burrage <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed D. Brent Cloninger, District <br />Court Judge, to the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council to complete an <br />unexpired term ending June 30, 2011. <br />(H -4) Appointments - Cabarrus County Youth Council <br />The following students are recommended for appointment to the Cabarrus <br />County Youth Council: Julianna Sirois (at -large [Cannon School]); Ryan Himes <br />(Central Cabarrus); Taylor Furr and Ryan Essick (Hickory Ridge); Sydney San <br />Jose and Alana Dean (J.M. Robinson); Ella Beth Wickliff and Seth Bollenbecker <br />(Mt. Pleasant); Te'Shone Davidson and Daniel Hicks (A.L. Brown); and Drew <br />Smith (Cox Mill). These students were selected after completing an <br />application and interview process. <br />Strategies are in place to address the vacant positions at Central <br />Cabarrus, Concord High, Cox Mill High and Northwest. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Vice Chairman Poole <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Julianna Sirois (at- large), <br />Taylor Furr (Hickory Ridge), Sydney San Jose (J.M. Robinson), Ella Beth <br />Wickliff (Mt. Pleasant) and Te'Shone Davidson (A.L. Brown) to the Cabarrus <br />County Youth Council for one -year terms ending February 21, 2012. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Burrage <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Ryan Himes (Central Cabarrus), <br />Ryan Essick (Hickory Ridge), Alana Dean (J.M. Robinson), Seth Bollenbecker <br />(Mt. Pleasant), Daniel Hicks (A.L. Brown) and Drew Smith (Cox Mill) to the <br />Cabarrus County Youth Council for two -year terms ending February 21, 2013. <br />(H -5) Appointments - Cabarrus County Parks Commission <br />At its January 20, 2011 meeting, the Parks Commission voted to <br />recommend the appointment of John DeVitto (Eastern Area) and Gina Lowery <br />(Concord Area), and the reappointment of Clara Swallows (At- Large) to its <br />membership. <br />It is also recommended that Blake Kiger be appointed to represent the <br />Cabarrus School Board planning area. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Measmer, seconded by Commissioner Burrage <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed John DeVitto (Eastern) and Gina <br />Lowery (Concord) to the Parks Commission for three -year terms ending January <br />31, 2014, appointed Blake Kiger ( Cabarrus School Board) the Parks Commission <br />to complete an unexpired term ending January 31, 2012 and reappointed Clara <br />Swallows (At- large) to the Parks Commission for a three -year term ending <br />January 31, 2014. <br />(H -6) Appointments - Food Policy Council <br />Due to resignations, appointments are needed to replace Linda Goodwin <br />(physician) and David Soliday (marketing /nutrition) on the FPC (Food Policy <br />Council) . The FPC Executive Committee recommends the following: Jane <br />Henderson's seat (alternate [florist /farmer]) be reclassified as a regular <br />voting position; reclassify the vacant "physician" seat to an "alternate" <br />position since there are two (2) "physician" seats on the Council; appoint <br />Jessica Castrodale to fill the "marketing /nutrition" seat and appoint Shannon <br />Johnson as an alternate. An exception to the "multiple service" provision of <br />the Appointment Policy is needed for Ms. Castrodale. <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Poole, seconded by Commissioner Burrage <br />and unanimously carried, the Board reclassified the "alternate" <br />(florist /farmer) seat to a regular voting seat representing "florist /farmer "; <br />reclassified the "physician" seat vacated by Linda Goodwin to an "alternate" <br />
