May 16, 2011 (Regular Meeting) <br />Page 436 <br />• Improve government transparency by providing complete county <br />information in an easier to find and use format. <br />• Provide more online tools and resources for doing business with the <br />county. <br />• Improve findability, navigation, and search capabilities. <br />• Provide greater interactivity. <br />• Make current customer information services more easily accessible. <br />• Provide a content management system that makes it easier for content <br />editors in county departments to add and update content on a frequent <br />basis. <br />• Update the look and feel of the site to be in line with the most <br />advanced local government sites. <br />She also credited Nick Roberts, ITS Business Systems and Data Services <br />Supervisor, Debbie Brannan, ITS Director, Brad Eudy, Systems Administrator, <br />and Marci Jones, Analyst /Programmer for development of the new website and <br />instruction to the many staff members who will be updating the website so <br />information will be more instantaneously available. She stated many of the <br />pictures on the new website were taken and provided by Chad Mitchell, a local <br />photographer. <br />(G -6) BOC - Resolution Requesting Assistance with the•Extension of Raging <br />Ridge Road <br />Chairman White reported he was contacted by Holly Blackwelder, Cabarrus <br />County School (CCS) Board Chair, and Len Witke, CCS Executive Director of <br />Facilities Management, has asked the Board to adopt a resolution asking the <br />General Assembly for an allocation of at least $250,000.00 in discretionary <br />funds to assist in the construction of Raging Ridge Road extension. He <br />advised this issue was brought to the Board's attention at the April 4 th work <br />session regarding the need for the extension and to address flooding issues. <br />He further advised Mr. Witke and Jonathan Marshall, Commerce Director, are <br />present to respond to questions. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Vice Chairman Poole <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following resolution: <br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING ASSISTANCE <br />WITH THE EXTENSION OF RAGING RIDGE ROAD <br />Resolution No. 2011 -15 <br />WHEREAS, within the last five years Cabarrus County has constructed Hickory <br />Ridge High School and Hickory Ridge Middle School and they are accessed via <br />Raging Ridge Road, and; <br />WHEREAS, Raging Ridge Road is the single point of entry for both these <br />schools from Hickory Ridge Road, and; <br />WHEREAS, Raging Ridge Road was planned and constructed so that it could be <br />extended across Back Creek to provide a second point of access to the two <br />schools from Stallings Road , and: <br />WHEREAS, Cabarrus County has employed an engineering firm to proceed with <br />plans for this extension and worked with NCDOT Division 10 staff to <br />coordinate this project, and; <br />WHEREAS, The Cabarrus County Board of Education has requested that the <br />General Assembly consider the approval of a minimum of $250,000 of <br />discretionary funds to supplement local expenditures to complete construction <br />of this road extension. <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br />join the Board of Education in making the request that the General Assembly <br />consider the approval of a minimum of $250,000 of discretionary funds to <br />assist in the construction of this road extension. <br />Adopted this 16 day of May, 2011. <br />/s/ H.
