August 15, 2011 (Regular Meeting) Page 577 <br />(H -2) Removal - Adult Care Home Comm Advisory Committee <br />A.L. Fleming has resigned from the Adult Care Home Community Advisory <br />Committee. Therefore, the Regional Ombudsman requests his removal from the <br />roster. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Vice Chairman Poole <br />and unanimously carried, the Board removed A.L. Fleming from the Adult Care <br />Home Community Advisory Committee roster. <br />(I) REPORTS <br />(I -1) EDC - Presentation of Cabarrus Economic Development's Quarterly Report <br />(April - June 2011) <br />Ryan McDaniels, Anna Lu Wilson and John Cox, with the Cabarrus Economic <br />Development Corporation (EDC), presented the EDC's Quarterly Update for the <br />Period of April - June 2011 in accordance with their annual contract with the <br />County. <br />The report included the following information: <br />• Performance Report <br />• North Carolina Economic Overview: June 2011 <br />• National Economic Update <br />• Certified Sites <br />• Staff Activities: April 1 - June 30, 2011 <br />• Total Employment and Establishments by County (Third Quarter 2010) <br />• Where Workers Live Who are Employed in the CRP Region <br />• Where Persons Work Who Live in the CRP Region <br />• Prospect Report - June 30, 2011 <br />• Current Projects <br />• Missions, Convention Report: April 1 - June 30, 2011 <br />• Local Contacts /Visits: April 1 - June 30, 2011 <br />• Economic Development Journal Article, Spring 2011, "A New City for a <br />New Century" <br />EDC representatives responded to numerous questions from the Board. No <br />action was taken. <br />(I -2) BOC - Receive Updates from Commission Members Who Serve as Liaisons to <br />Municipalities or on Various Board /Committees <br />None. <br />(I -3) Request for Applications for County Boards /Committees <br />Applications are being accepted for the following County <br />Boards /Committees: <br />• Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee <br />• Animal Protection and Preservation Advisory Committee <br />• Concord Planning and Zoning Commission (ETJ) <br />• Harrisburg Fire Advisory Board <br />• Industrial Facilities and Pollution Control Financing Authority <br />• Juvenile Crime Prevention Council <br />• Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee <br />• Youth Council <br />Chairman White asked citizens to consider participating on a Board or <br />Committee. <br />(J) GENERAL COMMENTS BY BOARD MEMBERS <br />Chairman White announced the North Carolina Association of County <br />Commissioners' annual conference is being held in Concord on August 18 -21. <br />He also announced the September agenda work session will be held on Tuesday, <br />September 6, 2011 in observance of the Labor Day holiday. <br />WATER AND SEWER DISTRICT OF CABARRUS COUNTY <br />None. <br />(L) CLOSED SESSION <br />
