Mr. Hudson further <br />advised the Envirothon competition is being held at Cedar Rock Park in <br />Alamance County on April 23rd_24th. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Vice Chairman Poole <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following proclamation: <br />Proclamation No. 2010-03 <br />HABITAT Stewardship Week <br />2010 <br />P R O C L A M A T I O N <br />Whereas fertile soil and clean water provide us with our daily <br />sustenance, and <br />Whereas effective conservation practices have helped provide us a rich <br />standard of living, and <br />Whereas our security depends upon healthy soil and clean water, and <br />Whereas stewardship calls for each person to help conserve these <br />precious resources, <br />Therefore, I do hereby proclaim <br />April 25 to May 2, 2010 <br />Habitat Stewardship Week <br />/s/ H. Jay White, Sr. Chairman, Board of Commissioners April 19, 2010 <br />Name Title Date <br />(D) INFORMAL PUBLIC COMN~NTS <br />Chairman White opened the meeting for Informal Public Comments at 6:44 <br />p.m. He stated each speaker would be limited to three minutes. <br />Lynn Easton, resident of 10521 Starwood Avenue in the Cabarrus Woods <br />subdivision, presented the following information regarding Crosiers Creek: <br />Crosiers Creek and Surrounding Creek Pollution <br />Problem <br />Cabarrus Woods <br />Victoria Park <br />Cabarrus County Commissioners meeting April 19th, 2010 <br />Who: All residents of Cabarrus Woods and Victoria Park since <br />creeks and natural springs run throughout our community. <br />Dennis Testerman Research Conservation Specialist Cabarrus <br />County who we have been informed is the "go to" person for <br />this issue. <br />What: Polluted water in the creeks in our neighborhood federally <br />mandated to be cleaned up. We have been told there is no <br />help available due to finding. <br />When: Original dialog started last spring in May 2009 with <br />Dennis Testerman Conservation Specialist Cabarrus County <br />in regard to the problem. Nothing to date has been done <br />to alleviate the issue. <br />Where: Cabarrus Woods and Victoria Park Subdivision located at <br />Plaza Road Extension and Rocky River Rd. <br />How: We need help immediately on how to go about cleaning the <br />debris out of the creeks. <br />Why: We need help so that our children and pets can be safe in <br />and around the water that runs through our backyards. <br />Attached please find: <br />
