Mike <br />Murphy, Aging Director, has provided a memorandum addressing the importance <br />of having local representation on the Region F Aging Advisory Board. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Mynatt, seconded by Vice Chairman Poole and <br />unanimously carried, the Board appointed Mary "Beth" Croom to the Region F <br />Aging Advisory Committee to fill a delegate position for a two -year term <br />ending June 30, 2012, including an exception to the "service on multiple <br />boards" provision of the Appointment Policy. By the same vote, the Board <br />appointed Anita Helms to the Region F Aging Advisory Committee to fill the <br />"alternate" position for a one -year term ending June 30, 2011, including an <br />exception to the "service on multiple boards" provision of the Appointment <br />Policy. <br />(H -4) Removal - Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee <br />Due to a change in family /work demands, Charlotte Hayes is unable to <br />meet her requirements on the Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee at <br />this time. Laurie Abounader, Ombudsman, requests the removal of her name <br />from the roster. <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Poole, seconded by Commissioner Mynatt and <br />unanimously carried, the Board removed Charlotte Hayes from the Nursing Home <br />Community Advisory Committee roster. <br />(I) REPORTS <br />(I -1) Request for Applications for County Boards /Committees <br />Chairman White urged citizens to consider serving on a County board or <br />committee. He asked interested individuals to contact the Clerk at 704 -920- <br />2100 or to go to the County's website at <br />www.cabarruscounty.us/ commissioners /boardsandcommittees and view information <br />on the various County boards and committees. <br />Applications are being accepted for the following County <br />Boards /Committees: <br />• Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee <br />• Animal Protection and Preservation Advisory Committee <br />• Concord Planning and Zoning Commission (ETJ) <br />• Industrial Facilities and Pollution Control Financing Authority <br />• Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee <br />• Region F Aging Advisory Committee <br />(J) GENERAL COMMENTS BY BOARD MEMBERS <br />Chairman White announced Kate Moore is retiring from her position as <br />Senior Librarian at the Mt. Pleasant Library. He stated she was not able to <br />attend tonight's meeting or the September meeting, recognized her for her <br />dedicated service to the community and wished her well in future endeavors. <br />Pam Dubois, Deputy County Manager, announced citizens may drop in at the Mt. <br />Pleasant Library on August 26 to wish her well. <br />Commissioner Carruth announced applications for the upcoming positions <br />on the Animal Protection and Preservation Advisory Board are available at the <br />County Manager's office as well as online at the County's website. <br />Commissioner Mynatt announced there is a website for a new initiative <br />called the 10 Percent Local Food initiative. She stated the site encourages <br />citizens to purchase 10 percent of their food locally and has information <br />regarding what is available and where it can be found. <br />Commissioner Poole recommended citizens read "The Small Mart <br />Revolution" by Michael H. Shuman. She stated the book addresses how local <br />businesses are beating the global competition. <br />(K) WATER AND SEWER DISTRICT OF CABARRUS COUNTY <br />None. <br />(L) CLOSED SESSION <br />
