April 20, 2009 (Regular Meeting) Page 1316 UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Privette and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following resolution: Resolution No. 2009-08 RESOLUTION OF THE CABARRUS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS IN SUPPORT OF SENATE BILL 2009-967 AND THE CREATION OF THE YADKIN RIVER TRUST WHEREAS, the North Carolina General Assembly, through Senate Bill 2009-967, has proposed the creation of the Yadkin River Trust and WHEREAS, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners fully supports the creation of the Yadkin River Trust; and WHEREAS, the creation of the Yadkin River Trust would greatly benefit the citizens of Cabarrus County and the citizens of North Carolina; and WHEREAS, the Yadkin River, its lakes and tributaries, are rightfully owned by the citizens of the State of North Carolina and the creation of the Yadkin River Trust will serve to return control of the Yadkin River, its lakes and tributaries, to the citizens of the State of North Carolina. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners confirm their support for and approval of Senate Bill 2009-967 and wish to commend the North Carolina General Assembly for proposing the creation of the Yadkin River Trust and the return of control of this great natural resource to the citizens of Cabarrus County and of North Carolina. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners encourage the North Carolina General Assembly to pass Senate Bill 967 and submit the bill to the Governor for signing.
