June 1, 2009 (Work Session) <br />Page 1427 <br />The Alexander Estates residential subdivision project is expected <br />to produce approximately 6 elementary students, 3 middle school <br />students and 2 high schools students for a total of 11 students. <br />The schools impacted by the project are Bethel Elementary School, <br />C.C. Griffin Middle School and Hickory Ridge High School. <br />The county's capital improvements plan (CI P) includes the <br />following proposed improvements that would create additional <br />capacity for the schools impacted by the project: <br />Number of Additional Seats listed in CIP <br />Year School 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2019 <br />Elementary Bethel 195 200 <br />Middle Bethel 900 <br />High Hickory Ridge 350 <br />Seat Distribution Summary - (Based on July 2008 Capital <br />Improvements Plan) <br />Elementary - A new elementary school is scheduled for 2009 on <br />Miami Church Road to replace the existing A.T. Allen Elementary <br />School. When this new school opens, 95 students will be <br />transferred from Bethel Elementary School to the new elementary <br />school due to redistricting. Also, a new elementary school is <br />scheduled for 2009 adjacent to C.C. Griffin Middle School. When <br />this new school opens, 100 students will be transferred from <br />Bethel Elementary School to the new elementary school due to <br />redistricting. Another new elementary school is scheduled for <br />2013 south of Harrisburg. When this new school opens, 200 <br />students will be transferred from Bethel Elementary School to the <br />new elementary school due to redistricting. <br />Middle - A new middle school is scheduled for 2009 adjacent to <br />Hickory Ridge High School. When this new middle school opens, 900 <br />students will be transferred from C.C. Griffin Middle School to <br />the new middle school due to redistricting. <br />High -A new high school is scheduled for 2013 in the west/central <br />area. (Note that <br />according to Section 15-11, Number 4, of the APFO, "...future <br />available capacity must be "...equal to or greater than the <br />projected enrollment that will be produced by the proposed <br />development for all school types," not just one or two.) <br />Is the project subject to Chapter 15, Adequate Public Facilities? <br />Yes. <br />Board of Commissioner Action Options: <br />
