July 20, 2009 (Regular Meeting) Page 1512 The term of appointment to the Cabarrus County Tourism Authority for Mr. Terry Crawford expired on June 30, 2009. The Tourism Authority has nominated Mr. Crawford to be reappointed to fill Seat # 5. The term of appointment for Mr. Garrett Jenio also expired on June 30, 2009. The Cabarrus Chamber of Commerce has nominated Mr. Jenio to be reappointed to fill Seat # 6. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Poole, seconded by Commissioner Privette and unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Mr. Terry Crawford (Seat No. 5) and Mr. Garrett Jenio (Seat No. 6) to the Tourism Authority for three-year terms ending June 30, 2012. (H-2) Appointments - Cabarrus Planning and Zoning Commission The terms of appointment to the Cabarrus Planning and Zoning Commission for Todd Berg, Brenda Cook, Larry Ensley, and Ted Kluttz will expire on August 31, 2009. They all request to be reappointed. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Poole, seconded by Commissioner Privette and unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Todd Berg (Concord), Brenda Cook (Midland), Larry Ensley (At-Large) and Ted Kluttz (Alternate) to the Cabarrus Planning and Zoning Commission for three-year terms ending August 31, 2012. (H-3) Appointments - Juvenile Crime Prevention Council The term of appointment to the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council for Chairperson Carolyn Carpenter expired on June 30, 2009. It is recommended by the JCPC that Ms. Carpenter be reappointed. An application has also been received from Ms. Tifphanie Rhymes, who would like to be appointed to fill the "Faith Community" position on the JCPC. Also, the Sheriff's Department is requesting that Ms. LuAnn Andrews be appointed to take the place of Mr. Luke Szabo as the Sheriff/Designee. UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Mynatt, seconded by Commissioner Carruth and unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Ms. Carolyn Carpenter as the "United Way/Other Non-Profit" representative and appointed Ms. Tifphanie Rhymes to the JCPC as the "Faith Community" representative for two-year terms ending June 30, 2011; and appointed Ms. LuAnn Andrews as the "Sheriff/Designee" representative for an unexpired term ending September 30, 2010. (H-4) Appointments - Library Board of Trustees The terms of appointment on the Library Board of Trustees for Karen Whitley (Kannapolis) and Rev. John Bigelow (Mt. Pleasant) are due to expire on July 31, 2009. It is recommended that Rev. Bigelow be reappointed and Ms. Brenda Trott be appointed to fill Ms. Whitley's position as the "Kannapolis" appointee. UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Mynatt, seconded by Commissioner Carruth and unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Reverend John Bigelow and appointed Ms. Brenda Trott to the Library Board of Trustees for three-year terms ending July 31, 2012. (H-5) Appointments - Nurainq Home Community Adyieory Committee An application to the Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee has been received from Ms. Charlotte Hayes and has been approved by the regional ombudsman. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Poole and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Ms. Charlotte Hayes to the Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee to complete a one-year term ending July 31, 2010. (H-6) Appointments - Region F in Advisory Committee Ms. Debi Lee, Lead Regional Ombudsman, is reporting that the terms of appointment for Mr. Ted Drain and Mr. Rusty Mitchell expire on August 31, 2009. Mr. Drain has requested to be reappointed to his position on the committee and Mr. Mitchell is not interested in serving another term.
