July 20, 2009 (Regular Meeting) Page 1513 UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Mynatt, seconded by Commissioner Poole and unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Mr. Ted Drain to the Region F Aging Advisory Committee to complete a two-year term ending August 31, 2011 and removed Mr. Rusty Mitchell from the Region F Aging Advisory Committee roster as requested by the Ombudsman. (H-7) A pointments - Transportation Advisory Board Ms. Kathy Kitts, Ms. Cyndi Ha11, and Mr. James Polk's appointments to the Transportation Advisory Board expired on June 30, 2009. It is being requested that they be reappointed to serve another term. An exception to the "length of service" provision of the appointment policy will be needed for Mr. Polk. An application has been received from Ms. Michelle Smith, who requests to be appointed to fill the position left vacant by the expiration of Ms. Cynthia Hubbard's term. Mr. Ron Bushey requests to be appointed to~fill the "Local Clergy" position. Ms. Patricia Crawford has resigned from her appointment as the "Cabarrus Health Alliance" appointee on the Board. Currently, there are no applicants to fill this position. UPON MOTION of Commissioner~Carfuth, seconded by Commissioner Poole and unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Mr. James Polk, Ms. Katherine Kitts and Ms. Cindy Hall to the Transportation Advisory Board to complete three-year terms ending June 30, 2012, including an exception to the "length of service" provision of the Appointment Policy for Mr. Polk; appointed Ms. Michelle Smith to fill the "Supported Employee" position and Reverend Ronald Bushey to fill the "Local Clergy" position on the Transportation Advisory Board to complete three-year terms ending June 30, 2012. By the same vote, the Board removed Ms. Patricia Crawford from the roster. (I) REPORTS (2-1) Rectuest for Applications for County Boards/Committees Chairman White announced applications are being accepted for the following County Boards/Committees: • Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee • Animal Preservation and Protection Advisory Committee • Concord Planning and Zoning Commission (ETJ) • Criminal Justice Partnership Advisory Board • Industrial Facilities and Pollution Control Financing Authority • Juvenile Crime Prevention Council • Library Board of Trustees • Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee • Region F Aging Advisory Committee • Social Services Board • Tourism Authority • Transportation Advisory Board Chairman White urged Cabarrus County citizens to consider serving on a County Board or Committee. (J) GENERAL COMMENTS BY BOARD MEMBERS Commissioner Carruth announced that monthly payment plans are available to citizens without an escrow account to reduce the burden of making a lump sum payment for real estate taxes. He encouraged citizens interested in the program to contact the tax office for further details. (K) WATER AND SEWER DISTRICT OF CABARRUS COUNTY None.
