July 20, 2009 (Regular Meeting) <br />Page 1513 <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Mynatt, seconded by Commissioner Poole and <br />unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Mr. Ted Drain to the Region F <br />Aging Advisory Committee to complete a two-year term ending August 31, 2011 <br />and removed Mr. Rusty Mitchell from the Region F Aging Advisory Committee <br />roster as requested by the Ombudsman. <br />(H-7) A pointments - Transportation Advisory Board <br />Ms. Kathy Kitts, Ms. Cyndi Ha11, and Mr. James Polk's appointments to <br />the Transportation Advisory Board expired on June 30, 2009. It is being <br />requested that they be reappointed to serve another term. An exception to <br />the "length of service" provision of the appointment policy will be needed <br />for Mr. Polk. <br />An application has been received from Ms. Michelle Smith, who requests <br />to be appointed to fill the position left vacant by the expiration of Ms. <br />Cynthia Hubbard's term. Mr. Ron Bushey requests to be appointed to~fill the <br />"Local Clergy" position. <br />Ms. Patricia Crawford has resigned from her appointment as the <br />"Cabarrus Health Alliance" appointee on the Board. Currently, there are no <br />applicants to fill this position. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner~Carfuth, seconded by Commissioner Poole and <br />unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Mr. James Polk, Ms. Katherine <br />Kitts and Ms. Cindy Hall to the Transportation Advisory Board to complete <br />three-year terms ending June 30, 2012, including an exception to the "length <br />of service" provision of the Appointment Policy for Mr. Polk; appointed Ms. <br />Michelle Smith to fill the "Supported Employee" position and Reverend Ronald <br />Bushey to fill the "Local Clergy" position on the Transportation Advisory <br />Board to complete three-year terms ending June 30, 2012. By the same vote, <br />the Board removed Ms. Patricia Crawford from the roster. <br />(I) REPORTS <br />(2-1) Rectuest for Applications for County Boards/Committees <br />Chairman White announced applications are being accepted for the <br />following County Boards/Committees: <br />• Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee <br />• Animal Preservation and Protection Advisory Committee <br />• Concord Planning and Zoning Commission (ETJ) <br />• Criminal Justice Partnership Advisory Board <br />• Industrial Facilities and Pollution Control Financing Authority <br />• Juvenile Crime Prevention Council <br />• Library Board of Trustees <br />• Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee <br />• Region F Aging Advisory Committee <br />• Social Services Board <br />• Tourism Authority <br />• Transportation Advisory Board <br />Chairman White urged Cabarrus County citizens to consider serving on a <br />County Board or Committee. <br />(J) GENERAL COMMENTS BY BOARD MEMBERS <br />Commissioner Carruth announced that monthly payment plans are available <br />to citizens without an escrow account to reduce the burden of making a lump <br />sum payment for real estate taxes.
