Veterans Services - currently located on the second floor of the <br />Governmental Center in a space that is shared with our Emergency <br />Management Department. Emergency Management will be moving to the <br />new Law Enforcement Building in August of this year. The remaining <br />space is more than adequate for Veterans Services however it is not <br />in the best location for those who use the service. A one story <br />office building with reserved parking will provide a much more <br />accessible and user friendly environment to their clients. The <br />remaining space will allow for the relocation of our Communications <br />and Outreach Department. Day, County Manager, and County Attorney Richard M. <br />Koch responded to questions from the Board. The following issues were <br />addressed: square footage of the new building; storm water runoff and <br />drainage issues; the status of the corner lot; why the property has not sold; <br />ongoing litigation; interest in selling the property; commercial <br />attractiveness of the property; other property in the area for sale; response <br />time on the Request for Qualifications (RFQ's); building/master plan options; <br />the space needs study; etc. <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Juba, seconded by Commissioner Carruth and <br />unanimously carried, the Board voted to place the Request for Qualifications <br />(RFQ's) to complete a detailed "master plan" for a future government complex <br />on the remaining 10+/- acres of county owned property on Cabarrus Avenue at <br />the Old Fairgrounds on the February 18, 2008 Agenda as a Consent item. <br />Tax Administration - Approval of 2007 Delinquent Taxes Having Liens on Real <br />Property & Advertisement Date <br />Brent Weisner, Tax Administrator, reported as of January 31, 2008 the <br />2007 delinquent taxes with liens on real property is $5,680,210.20 and <br />consists of 7,730 tax bills. He also presented an "Order to the Tax <br />Administrator" authorizing the advertisement of tax liens on Sunday, March <br />30, 2008 in a newspaper having a general circulation. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Carruth <br />and unanimously carried, the Board voted to place the item on the February <br />18, 2008 Agenda as a Consent item. <br />- Budget Amendment <br />ram Funds - 3361,80E <br />Sandy Russell, DSS Deputy Director, presented a budget amendment for <br />appropriation of additional Community Alternatives Program (CAP) funds <br />totaling $361,806.00 and responded to questions from the Board. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board voted to place the budget amendment <br />(Appropriation of Additional Community Alternatives Program Funds - <br />$361,808.00) on the February 18, 2008 Agenda as a Consent item. <br />
