September 22, 2008 (Regular Meeting) Page 971 <br />AMOUNT: $226,815.00 <br />TYPE OF ADJUSTMENT: Supplemental Request <br />PURPOSE OF REQUEST: At the Regular September 22, 2008 Board of Commissioner's <br />meeting, the Board approved allocating $226,615.00 from the capital reserve <br />fund for roof replacement of the Kannapolis Intermediate School that was <br />damaged due to heavy rains from Hurricane Fay. <br />Present <br />Account No. Approved Budget Increase <br />00197210-9702 $540,000.00 $226,815.00 <br />Kannapolis City Schools - Capital Outlay <br />00161710-6921 $700,000.00 $226,8156.00 <br />Contribution from the Capital Reserve Fund <br />95097220-9821 $13,317,627.56 <br />Building and Renovations <br />95097220-9709 $676,531.24 $226,815.00 <br />Contribution to the General Eund <br />Decrease Revised Budget <br />$766,815.00 <br />$926,815.00 <br />$226,815.00 $13,090,812.56 <br />$903,346.24 <br />(G-5) 2008 Cabarrus County Community Needs Assessment <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Vice Chairman Juba and <br />unanimously carried, the Board voted to table presentation of the 2008 <br />Cabarrus County Community Needs Assessment until the October 6, 2008 Agenda <br />Work Session. <br />(G-6) Proclamation Dealarina September 21-27, 2008 as National Farm Safety <br />and Health Week in Cabarrus County <br />Commissioner Carruth reviewed a proclamation declaring September 21-27, <br />2008 as National Farm Safety and Health Week in Cabarrus County. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Vice Chairman Juba and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following proclamation: <br />Proclamation No. 2008-OB <br />CABARRUS COUNTY <br />HOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />PROCLAMATION <br />WHEREAS, farming and agriculture remain important parts of our county's <br />economy, providing jobs and livelihood for our citizens and families, as well <br />as embodying the valuesof hard work, faith, and love of family; and <br />WHEREAS, making a living off the land exposes agricultural workers to many <br />potential dangers, such as extreme weather conditions, fertilizers and <br />chemicals, and heavy machinery; and <br />WHEREAS, in spite of the hazards and risks to life and property, across the <br />United States and in our community, farming families and enterprises continue <br />to work with dedication, day after day, and year after year, to insure <br />America is kept fed; and <br />WHEREAS, every year, thousands of agricultural workers, farm employees, and <br />family members are injured, maimed, or killed in accidents involving <br />agricultural operations, making it one of the most dangerous occupations in <br />our nation; and, <br />WHEREAS, farm operators, employees, and family members are encouraged to: <br />- Practice and promote safe work habits and conditions on farms and <br />ranches. <br />- Take steps to identify these hazards and instructing family members <br />in safe practices will help save lives and prevent injuries. <br />- Avoid accidents and protect lives by staying informed, being <br />proactive, and remaining vigilant. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, that the Board of Commissioners of Cabarrus <br />County, North Carolina, do hereby proclaim September 21-27, 2008 as `National <br />Farm Safety andHealth Week' in Cabarrus County and call upon those agencies, <br />organizations and businesses that serve our farm families and enterprises to <br />strengthen their commitment to promote farm safety and health programs. <br />
