September 22, 2008 (Regular Meeting) <br />Page 959 <br />In response to a question from the Board, Ms. Bost stated that Ms. <br />Barrier has taken the secretary professional for the Cooperative Extension <br />Secretary Association, joined with other state associations within <br />Cooperative Extension to develop a Southern Region Secretaries Association <br />which will meet for the first time in Nashville in November. <br />(D) INFORMAL PUBLIC COMMENT3 <br />Chairman White opened the meeting for Informal Public Comments at 6:40 <br />p.m. He stated each speaker would be limited to three minutes: <br />Jimmy Champion, resident of 5151 Odell School Road in Davidson, thanked <br />Commissioners Juba, Carruth and White for putting the greater good of <br />Cabarrus County first and foremost. He stated theneed for a common goal and <br />common agenda among the Commissioners and expressed disapproval of political <br />grand standing. <br />With there being no one else to address the Board, Chairman White <br />closed that portion of the meeting. <br />(E) OLD BU3INE33 <br />None. <br />(F) CONSENT AGENDA <br />At the request of the Board, Jonathan Marshall, Commerce Director, <br />reported that the N.C. Big Sweep Watershed Litter Clean-up day is a <br />coordinated effort between the Soil and Water Conservation Service, municipal <br />public information officers, and the school systems in Cabarrus County to <br />remove litter from our waterways. He directed anyone interested in <br />participating in the upcoming clean-up to contact Dennis Testerman with the <br />Soil and Water District for further details. <br />and <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Carruth <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following budget amendment: <br />BUDGET REVISION/AMENDMENT REQUEST <br />DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE/ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION <br />AMOUNT: $2,090.00 <br />TYPE OF ADJUSTMENT: Supplemental Request <br />PURPOSE OF REQUEST: This budget amendment is to appropriate funds to be <br />received from the NC DENR - Division of Land Resources for the Local Erosion <br />and Sedimentation Control Program Grant. The County has an already budgeted <br />60 percent match in travelto the NC DENR match of 90 percent within the FY <br />2009 Environmental Protection budget.
