July 23, 2007 (Regular Meeting) Page 500 <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner White, seconded by Commissioner Mynatt and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the increase in the Sheriff's <br />Department budget for one sergeant position to serve the Town of Harrisburg. <br />Further, the Board .adopted the following budget amendment: <br />BUDGET REVISION/AMENDMENT REQUEST <br />DEPARTMENT OF SHERIFF <br />AMOUNT: $56,049.00 <br />TYPE OF ADJUSTMENT: Supplemental Request <br />PURPOSE OF REQUEST: This revision appropriates funds for one new Sergeant for <br />the Town of Harrisburg. The Engineering for that line has <br />been completed and the sewer line will need to be located nearer to the <br />highway than originally planned, forcing the easement to be relocated. The <br />easement will not be any wider than it is currently. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner White, seconded by Commissioner Mynatt and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the relocation of the Sanitary Sewer <br />Easement off 73 East as long as the width of that easement does not exceed <br />that of the current easement and authorized the County Manager to execute the <br />corresponding documentation. <br />(F-7) Commerce Department - Voluntary Annexation Reaueet for the Northwest <br />Area High School Property <br />By agreement with the City of Concord, properties within their 5-year <br />annexation area must be considered for voluntary annexation if they will be <br />provided with public water and sewer services. Cabarrus County and Cabarrus <br />County Schools are in the process of purchasing property for a new high <br />school off Cox Mill- Road and the request for voluntary annexation is <br />required. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner White, seconded by Commissioner Mynatt and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the preparation of the request of <br />voluntary annexation for the Northwest Area High School property including <br />authorizing the County Manager to sign the request on behalf of the County. <br />- Addition <br />NC Building Code requires a permit for retaining walls greater than <br />five feet in height. '. These walls are rarely noted on building plans. The <br />Commerce Department requests retaining walls greater than 5 feet be required <br />on grading plans and that a separate $25.00 permit fee be issued for them. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner White, seconded by Commissioner Mynatt and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the requirement of retaining walls <br />greater than five feet in height to be shown/noted on building plans and the <br />addition of a $25.00!retaining wall permit to Construction Standards' fee <br />schedule for walls greater than five feet in height. <br />
