<br />January 23, 2006 - Regular Meeting <br /> <br />Page <br /> <br />473 <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2006-02 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING FILING FEES <br />FOR CANDIDATES FOR <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONER AND SHERIFF <br /> <br />WHEREAS, filing for the Year 2006 candidates for County Commissioner <br />and Sheriff begins on February 13, 2006, if authorized by the North Carolina <br />Board of Elections; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Cabarrus County Board of Elections has requested direction <br />in establishing filing fees for these offices; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, North Carolina General Statute 163-107 fixes the filing fee <br />for County Commissioner and Sheriff at one (1%) of the annual salary for each <br />office; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the annual salary for a County Commissioner is $10,616.16 and <br />the annual salary for the Sheriff is $87,821.01 <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners hereby sets the following filing fee for the 2006 Election and <br />directs that this information be forwarded to the Board of Elections: <br /> <br />County Commissioner <br />Sheriff <br /> <br />$106 <br />$878 <br /> <br />Adopted this 23rd day of January 2006. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br />/s/ Frankie F. Carruth, Chairman <br />Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />(F-13) Purchase of Right-of-Way on Harris Road - Revised Budget <br /> <br />At the December 2005 meeting the Board approved the sale of right-of- <br />way on Harris Road to the Department of Transportation for the construction <br />of a replacement bridge on Harris Road over the Rocky River. The Board also <br />agreed to transfer the $1,500.00 payment to the Harris Road Middle School. <br />The Department has increased the purchase price to $2,000.00. <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by commissioner Freeman <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following budget amendment to <br />recognize the increased purchase price for the right-af-way on Harris Road. <br /> <br />BUDGET REVISION/AMENDMENT REQUEST <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE <br />AMOUNT: $2,000.00 <br />TYPE OF ADJUSTMENT: Supplemental Request <br />PURPOSE OF REQUEST: Appropriate funds that will be received from the <br />Department of Transportation to Harris Road Middle School. The DOT will <br />purchase land for a permanent and construction easement from land at Harris <br />Road Middle School for a new bridge on Harris Road. In an <br />effort to ensure that this location will remain available to the County for <br />an additional five years, a lease extension agreement with Kannapolis Landi <br />Inc. was negotiated and agreed upon at $5.87 per square foot. The landlord <br />will be required to make additional exterior and site improvements. <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Freeman <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved Option 1, extension of the Human <br />Services Building Lease for five years, including the proposed exterior <br />building modifications and the 100 percent Asphalt Overlay of the entire <br />
