<br />March 20, 2006 - Regular Meeting <br /> <br />Page <br /> <br />538 <br /> <br />At its January 2006 meeting, the Cabarrus County Tourism Authority <br />Board of Directors approved a request to appropriate $120,000.00 from <br />reserves to the "Marketing Activities" line item. These funds will be used <br />for a marketing partnership with Lowe's Motor Speedway and website <br />development with CVBTV. <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner <br />Carpenter and unanimously carried, the Board approved the following budget <br />amendment: <br /> <br />BUDGET REVISION/AMENDMENT REQUEST <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM <br />AMOUNT: $120,000.00 <br />TYPE OF ADJUSTMENT: Supplemental Request <br />PURPOSE OF REQUEST: This budget amendment transfers funds from the Tourism <br />Fund reserves to the FY 05-06 operating budget for additional marketing <br />activities, including a marketing partnership with Lowe's Motor Speedway and <br />website development with CVBTV. These costs were related to rebuilding <br />the concrete building pad because of weather related issues, replacement of <br />the well and septic systems, electric and sewer line extensions, etc. <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner <br />Carpenter and unanimously carried, the Board approved the following budget <br />amendment: <br /> <br />BUDGET REVISION/AMENDMENT REQUEST <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT OF SOLID WASTE <br />AMOUNT: $20,100.00 <br />TYPE OF ADJUSTMENT: Supplemental Request <br />PURPOSE OF REQUEST: Request for additional funds totaling $20,100 related to <br />the rebuilding of the building pad due to weather issues, well/septic system <br />replacement, electric and sewer line extensions, cost overruns on the price <br />of concrete and a 2" conduct for voice data. Department of Transportation to Make an <br />Exception to Policy and Allow the Placement of Directional Signs for Reed <br />Gold Mine at the I-485 and Albemarle Road (NC 24/27) Interchange <br /> <br />Bob Remsburg, Reed Gold Mine Manager, has requested a letter of support <br />from the Board asking the N. C. Department of Transportation (DOT) to make an <br />exception to its policy to allow directional signs for Reed Gold Mine to be <br />placed at the 1-485 and Albemarle Road (NC 24/27) interchange. The DOT policy <br />does not allow directional signs more than 10 miles from an attraction and <br />Reed Gold Mine is 13.6 miles from that interchange. <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner <br />Carpenter and unanimously carried, the Board authorized the Chairman to send <br />a letter to the N. C. Department of Transportation in support of directional <br />signs for Reed Gold Mine at the 1-485 and Albemarle Road (NC 24/27) <br />interchange and requesting an exception to the distance requirement. <br /> <br />(F-16) Lease Agreement for Additional Space for the Department of Social <br />Services <br />
