<br />May ~, 2006 - Agenda Work Session <br /> <br />Page <br /> <br />579 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Cabarrus County and the surrounding area have supported and <br />continue to support the NASCAR Nextel All-Star Challenge, and are committed <br />to keeping the All-Star Challenge at Lowe's Motor Speedway. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners hereby <br />proclaims May 14 - 20, 2006, as <br /> <br />NASCAR NEXTEL ALL-STAR CHALLENGE WEEK <br /> <br />in Cabarrus County, and encourages <br />of the Nextel All-Star Challenge <br />associated with this great event to <br />County. <br /> <br />all citizens to join together in support <br />and participate in the many activities <br />ensure its continued success in Cabarrus <br /> <br />This the 1st day of May, 2006. <br />/s/ Robert W. Carruth <br />Robert Carruth, Chairman <br />Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />Premiere of Disney.Pixar animated Feature Film "CARS" - Proclamation <br /> <br />UPON MOTION Commissioner Carpenter, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following proclamation: <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Cabarrus County, as home to Lowes Motor Speedway, NASCAR race <br />shops and many motorsports -related businesses, is gaining notoriety as the <br />Center of American Motorsports; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Cabarrus County is home to many NASCAR racing celebrities; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Several NASCAR celebrities have guest roles in the new <br />Disney.Pixar animated feature film "CARS;" and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The premiere of "CARS" will be shown to an audience of <br />celebrities and fans at Lowes Motor Speedway during the Coca Cola 600 Week; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, This unique screening event will include the first-ever multi- <br />screen digital cinema premiere; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The "CARS" premiere will bring national and international <br />attention to Cabarrus County. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, The Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners does hereby <br />proclaim Friday, May 26, 2006 as <br /> <br />Disney.Pixar "CARS" Day <br /> <br />in Cabarrus County and invites all residents to celebrate this landmark <br />achievement. <br /> <br />This the 1st day of May, 2006. <br />/s/ Robert W.
