He said it was the Town's ultimate <br />goal, would most likely require state legislation and be a lengthy process. <br /> <br />There was brief discussion on the impact a new fire station would have <br />on safety issues, response times and fire insurance rates. <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Chairman Carpenter, seconded by <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />Harrisburg Fire Department as presented. <br /> <br />Commissioner Privette <br />proposed budget for <br /> <br />Midland Fire Department <br /> <br />Chief Allen Burnette, Midland Fire Department, presented the proposed <br />budget for the fire department which included a half cent tax increase. He <br />reported a half cent tax increase was necessary to offset a substantial <br />decrease in property valuations due to the closure of the Corning plant. <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Chairman Carpenter <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the proposed budget for the <br />Midland Fire Department as presented. <br /> <br />Gold Hill Fire Department <br /> <br />Randy Earnhardt of the Gold Hill Fire Department presented the proposed <br />budget for the fire department which included a one-cent tax increase. He <br />reported the additional funds would be used to purchase a new tanker truck, <br />cover increased fuel costs and lower the fire insurance rating. <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Freeman, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the proposed budget for the Gold <br />Hill Fire Department as presented. <br /> <br />Other Fire Departments <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Chairman Carpenter, seconded by Commissioner Freeman and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the proposed tax rates for the <br />following fire districts as included in the draft Budget Ordinance: Allen, <br />Cold Water, Enochville, Flowe's Store, Georgeville, Jackson parkf Mt. <br />Mitchell, Odell, Rimer, Winecoff (contracted to the City of Kannapolis) , <br />Northeast, Mt. Pleasant Rural and Richfield-Misenheimer. <br /> <br />The fire tax rates will be included in the final Budget Ordinance <br />presented for approval after the public hearing. <br /> <br />Emergency Medical Services & Non-Emergency Transportation <br /> <br />David Hampton, Director of Emergency Medical Services, <br />proposed budgets for Emergency Medical Services and <br />Transportation. <br /> <br />presented the <br />Non-Emergency <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Freeman <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the proposed budget for Emergency <br />Medical Services as presented. <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Freeman, seconded by Commissioner Juba and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the proposed budget for Non-Emergency <br />Transportation as presented. <br /> <br />Cabarrus Arena & Events Center <br /> <br />Kenny Robinson, Accountant, presented the proposed budget for the <br />Cabarrus Arena & Events Center. He reported a reduction in the contribution <br />to the Arena from the General Fund in the amount of $136,000.00. <br /> <br />There was a brief discussion on upcoming events at the Arena. <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Freeman, seconded by Chairman Carpenter and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the proposed budget for the Cabarrus <br />Arena and Events Center as presented. <br /> <br />Cabarrus County Fair <br /> <br />Kenny Robinson, <br />Cabarrus County Fair. <br /> <br />Accountant, presented the <br />No changes were reported. <br /> <br />proposed <br /> <br />budget <br /> <br />for <br /> <br />the <br />
