Freeman, Chairman <br />Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />Proclamation - Child Support Awareness Month (April 2002) <br /> <br /> Chairman Freeman recognized Commissioner Privette to read the Child <br />Support Awareness Month Proclamation. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Vice Chairman Carruth <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Proclamation. <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2002-05 <br /> <br />CHILD SUPPORT AWARENESS MONTH <br />IN CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> A PROCLAMATION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the welfare of <br />responsibility we have as parents. <br />support from both parents; and <br /> <br />our Children is the most important <br /> A child should be able to depend on <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, children who do nOt receive adequate financial and emotional <br />support from both parents may experience greater difficulty in becoming <br />healthy, happy, and productive citizens of this County. In such cases, the <br />taxpayers of this County support the children whose parents fail to meet this <br />responsibility; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, many concerned and dedicated judges, district attorneys, <br />clerks of court, sheriffs' personnel, and child support professionals work to <br />provide this service to Cabarrus County's children . our future; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners does hereby proclaim the month of April, 2002 as <br /> <br />CHILD SUPPORT AWARENESS MONTH IN CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> <br />and urges all parents who are currently under court order to regularly pay <br />their child support. <br /> <br />This the 18th day of March 2002 <br /> <br />/s/ Robert M. Freeman <br />Chairman, Cabarrus County <br />Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />Quality of Life Resolution - Vice Chairman Bob Carruth <br /> <br /> Vice Chairman Carruth introduced Mr. Richard Flowe, a Cabarrus County <br />representative on Voices and Choices of the Central Carolinas and the <br />Implementation Chairman for the Envision Cabarrus initiative. <br /> <br /> Mr. Flowe gave a brief overview of Voices and Choices, a 14-county <br />regional organization that is addressing a number of issues, including a good <br />quality of life, in the region surrounding the Charlotte Metropolitan area. <br />He stated the work by Voices and Choices supports the Envision Cabarrus <br />initiative that is under way in Cabarrus County at a more focused community- <br />based level. Mr. Flowe recognized Ms. Len Cone, Executive Director of <br />Envision Cabarrus, who was present for the meeting. <br /> <br /> Vice Chairman Carruth read the following Quality of Life Resolution and <br />moved for its adoption.
