Further, the Board authorized the County Manager <br />to enter into a contract with Champion for the landscaping work. <br /> <br />(G) APPOINTMENTS TO BOARDS AND COMMITTEES <br /> <br />(G-l) Tourism Authority <br /> <br /> The terms of appointment for the following members on the Tourism <br />Authority end on December 31, 2002: John B. Dysart (Seat #1 - At-large <br />Member) serving since 1994; Joe Phelps (Seat #2 - Nominated by Tourism <br />Authority) serving since 1996; and Aubie Widenhouse Cook (Seat #3) - <br />Nominated by Cabarrus Regional Chamber of Commerce) serving since 1999. <br />Further, the position currently held by County Manager Frank Clifton will <br />become vacant on December 31. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Vice Chairman Suggs <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Alan Stafford to the at-large <br />position (Seat #1) on the Tourism Authority for a term of three years ending <br />December 31, 2005. <br /> <br /> The following names were received from the Tourism Authority for <br />consideration for appointment to Seat #2: Eddie Littlefield, Sidney Wilson <br />and Palak Patel. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Vice Chairman Suggs <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Eddie Littlefield to Seat #2 on <br />the Tourism Authority for a term of three years ending December 31, 2005. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Privette pointed out that Mr. Littlefield is a current <br />Alternate Member of the Cabarrus County Planning and Zoning Commission and <br />will be resigning from that position. <br /> <br /> The Cabarrus Regional Chamber of Commerce submitted the following names <br />for consideration for appointment to Seat #3: Aubie Cook, Doug Stafford and <br />Roger Haas. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Chairman Freeman and <br />unanimously carried, the Board reappoint Aubie Cook to Seat #3 on the Tourism <br />Authority for a term of three years ending December 31, 2005. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Vice Chairman Suggs <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Chairman Freeman to Seat #4 on <br />the Tourism Authority. Chairman Freeman will complete an unexpired term <br />ending December 31, 2003. <br /> <br />(~-2) Department of A~in~ Advisory Board <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Vice Chairman Suggs <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Scott Barringer to the <br />Department of Aging Advisory Board for a term of three years ending December <br />31, 2005. Mr. Barringer will fill the position previously held by A1 <br />Berkeyheiser who had served six years. <br /> <br /> <br />
