<br />Approval of Contract Amendment with Southeast Addiction Institute and

<br />Learnin~ Center for Services Funded through the Criminal Justice Partnership

<br /> The Cabarrus County Criminal Justice Partnership Program (CJPP)
<br />Advisory Board oversees the provision of intensive and regular outpatient
<br />substance abuse treatment services to offenders referred by the courts in
<br />accordance with the Community Based Corrections Plan. The treatment services
<br />are provided by the Southeast Addiction Institute and Learning Center. The
<br />CJPP Advisory Board has endorsed the provision of an additional service,
<br />cognitive restructuring education, by Southeast to referred offenders.

<br /> UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Suggs
<br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved an amendment to the contract
<br />entered into on March 31, 2000, between the County and Southeast Addiction
<br />Institute and Learning Center, for Southeast to provide each offender
<br />assessed appropriate a Cognitive Restructuring EducatiOn (CRE) program.
<br />Southeast will receive an hourly rate of $14.50 per client for CRE and
<br />assessments will be billed at the rate of $50.00 per assessment. Further,
<br />the Board authorized the County Manager to sign the Contract Amendment, with
<br />an effective date of January 1, 2001, on behalf of Cabarrus County.

<br />Approval of Turf Improvement Contracts (H & R Lawn Service, Inc.) for
<br />Cabarrus County Properties
<br />
<br /> Five informal bid proposals were received on December 20, 2000 for turf
<br />improvements for the Central, Southwest and North Districts. The summary of
<br />the bid proposals was as follows:

<br /> The Board received the written request from Mr. Steve Little, Parks and
<br />Recreation Director, to extend the current turf improvement contract with H &
<br />R Lawn Service, Inc. for the East District at a cost of $3,091.58. In
<br />addition, Mr. Little requested that H & R Lawn Service be awarded the ,turf
<br />improvement bid for the other three districts.

<br />and' unanimously carried, the Board authorized the County Manager to provide
<br />necessary signatures to the turf improvement contracts with H & R Lawn
<br />Service, Inc. at a total annual cost of $52,845.18 for the four districts
<br />(Central, Southwest, North and East).
