48 <br /> <br />Proclamation - Child Support Awareness Month (April 2001) <br /> <br /> Vice Chairman Carruth read the following Proclamation that had been <br />submitted by Ms. Glenda Clawson of the Department of Social Services. <br /> <br />CHILD 'SUPPORT AWARENESS MONTH IN CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> A PROCLAMATION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the welfare of our children is the most important <br />responsibility we have as parents. A child should be able to depend on <br />support from both parents; and <br /> WHEREAS, children who do not receive adequate financial and emotional <br />support from both parents may experience greater difficulty in becoming <br />healthy, happy, and productive citizens of this County. In such cases, the <br />taxpayers of this County support the children whose parents fail to meet this <br />responsibility; and <br /> WHEREAS, many concerned and dedicated judges, district attorneys, <br />clerks of court, sheriffs' personnel, and child support professionals work to <br />provide this service to Cabarrus County's children our future; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners does hereby proclaim the month of April, 2001 as' <br /> CHILD SUPPORT AWARENESS MONTH IN CABARRUS COUNTY <br />and urges all parents who are currently under court order to regularly pay <br />their child support. <br /> This the 26th day of March 2001. <br /> <br />/s/ Arne L. Fennel <br />Chairman, Cabarrus County <br />Board of Commissioners <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Fennel, seconded by Vice Chairman Carruth and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the three Proclamations that had been <br />read, including the Prayer for Rain, Rocky River Presbyterian Church Days and <br />Child Support Awareness Month in Cabarrus County. <br /> <br />Cabarrus County Night at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium <br /> <br /> Commissioner Privette announced that April 16 had been designated as <br />Cabarrus County Night at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium. He stated this will be a <br />time for Cabarrus County to honor and encourage the Kannapolis Intimidators <br />baseball team. <br /> <br />OLD BUSINESS <br /> <br />Update on the County Expo Site - Nicole Storey, Planner <br /> <br /> Ms. Nicole Storey, County Planner, presented an update on the Cabarrus <br />County Fairground and Exposition Center Project. The site topography and <br />boundary survey is complete, and construction is expected to begin in early <br />July. Ms. Storey presented a graphic display provided by Overcash Demmitt <br />Architects showing how the outside of the Expo Center will look when it is <br />completed. The Expo Center will consist of a main arena, livestock arena, <br />small arena and meeting rooms and will total approximately 190,000 square <br />feet. The Exhibit Building at the end of the midway will have approximately <br />40,000 square feet. <br /> <br />Budget Amendment - County Expo Appropriation (Salaries & Benefits and <br />Operating Expenses) <br /> <br /> Mr. Clifton explained the proposed budget amendment would establish the <br />County Expo operating budget for the remainder of this fiscal year. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Privette and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following budget amendment. <br /> <br /> BUDGET REVISION/AMENDMENT REQUEST <br />DEPARTMENT O~ Finance <br />AMOUNT: $95,958.00 <br />TYPE OF ADJUSTMENT: Supplemental Request <br />PURPOSE OF REQUEST: FY 2001 County Expo Appropriation - Salaries & Benefits <br />and Operating Expenses <br /> <br /> Present <br />Account No. Approved Budget Increase <br /> <br />Decrease <br /> <br />Revised Budget <br /> <br /> <br />
