274 <br /> <br />RECOGNITIONS AND PRESENTATIONS <br /> <br />Recoqnition of Deputy Registers of Deeds Linda Cote and Melbia McCain for <br />Attaininq Certification by the North Carolina Association of Reqisters of <br />Deeds - Bill Ross, Reqister of Deeds <br /> <br /> Mr. Bill Ross, Register of Deeds, recognized Linda Cote and Melbia <br />McCain, Deputy Registers of Deeds, for certification by the North Carolina <br />Association of Registers of Deeds. <br /> <br /> On behalf of the Board, Commissioner Fennel presented a Certificate of <br />Commendation to both Ms. Cote and Ms. McCain. <br /> <br />Recoqnition of Sherri Barnhardt, County Purchasinq Aqent, for Attaininq <br />Certification as a Certified Local Government Purchasinq Officer - Pam <br />Dubois, Assistant Finance Director <br /> <br /> Ms. Pam Dubois, Assistant Finance Director, recognized County <br />Purchasing Agent Sherri Barnhardt on the successful completion of all <br />requirements to become a Certified Local Government Purchasing Officer. <br /> <br /> On behalf of the Board, Commissioner Fennel presented a Certificate of <br />Commendation to Ms. Barnhardt. <br /> <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br /> <br /> Item 10 (Proposed Lease Agreement with the State of North Carolina) and <br />Item 14 (Contract with Tax Management Associates) were removed from the <br />Consent Agenda at the request of Chairman Barnhart. Item 23 (Removal and <br />Replacement of Trees) was removed at the request of Commissioner Carpenter. <br /> <br />Authorization to Award Service Weapon to Retirinq Officer <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Carpenter <br />and unanimously carried, the Board declared surplus and awarded for the price <br />of $1.00 the service weapon (Smith & Wesson 9MM Model 5906 Ser/TEP 1543) to <br />Deputy Sheriff Nevin L.
